X2 3800+ Overclocking Poll

I just got myX2 3800 yesterday it's a Manchester E6 and i
can't get it Over 2460Mhz Without core 1 Failing Prime.( I'm only on 1.4 vcore intil i get a better cooler)
Do you Think that my Asus a8n-sil deluxe is holding me back?
And also is my Tagan TG480-U01 (28A on a single +12v Rail) providing enough power for my:
2x HHD
2x Dvd drives
X850XT
3x pci cards
4xfans on a controller?

Edited removed 2800-3000 as no screenshots where posted.

Mine did about 2.5 with 1.4 vcore. Needed 1.55 vcore for 2.6 dual prime95, large FFT test stable.

I'm especially interested in the guy who's in the 2900-3000MHz range.

I think your voltage is holding you back.

I'm seriously doubting that someone could hit that high without a cascade or a 100000000000W peltier.

i dunno, some of these 3800's are flying at pretty low vcore. my 270x10 only needs 1.44v.

My Temps are a bit high with my zalman 7000 cu cpu@52c and the chipset is @48c I plan on geting a zalman 9500 or a Scythe Ninja soon. I swaped the active chipset fan 9000rpm for a Zalman NB47J. which didn't change the temps. Before I had the x2 the chipset didn't go higher than 33c

I think you could do 3GHz on phase. A lot of people have been reporting 2.7-2.8 on air with less than 1.5V. Many of them were at stock voltage or 1.45 at most.

3 people are claiming 2900-3000mhz... lets see a screenshot of 2 prime95s.. even 12 minutes would be sufficient. 😀

I'm always skeptical of people's claims on their super-high OCs, so 2 prime95s running will expose them.. but curiously you just don't see anyone posting those screenies.

What exactly is that proving?

Prime95 needs to be running in the screenshot- not shutdown. 🙂 I'm not calling you a liar, but for real "proof", it should be running in the screenshot with cpu-z up. The thing is, it is extremely easy to simply bump up the fsb speed after you shut down prime95, with any of a number of utilities.

In fact, why would you wait until after you shut it down to take the screenshot? Wouldn't it be more impressive to actually see all those passed tests, and your CPU usage at 100%, and all systems functioning perfectly? 2 Prime's shutdown just isn't proof at all, and you gotta think people will be skeptical when you are doing this at stock voltage. Oh yeah- how about small or even large FFTs - not blend or custom.

Do you by chance have any screens of dual prime / SuperPI @ 2.88ghz?

No - but I could take one.

I can do a SuperPi32M at 2.92ghz, in fact. Prime95 won't pass that high without extra voltage though, and I'm not going over the 1.65 barrier. I'll reboot and switch to 2.92 and run SuperPi32M and take a screenie mid run. I'll post it up tonight.

EDIT: Here we go- I'm at 2920 right now, and took a screenshot of Superpi32M (which is still running btw). 2920

lmao.

first off, i said i use 1.44v, not stock. glad to see you trust software monitoriing though, lol. i don't use clockgen or any windows based clocks, everything is done in bios.

secondly, i need to shutdown prime to show the elapsed time. thats why i showed the task manager illustrating the sudden drop off on each core from 100% to 0 usage.

thirdly, don't tell me how to run stability tests, especially as you think a 32m pi is an accomplishment  i always run a 24 hour blend as my final test; it needs to pass small and large (10-12 hours), occt, pi's and 3d's before i even waste my time on a 24hour.

btw, you probably want to check out xs and read the posts where x2's are dying at your vcore.
