This is a silly statement. How was R520 done wrong? It beat Nvidia's fastest at the time. It was only bested by the GTX 512 which has become vaporware after a limited run. There is nothing wrong with the R520 except that it was late. I'm sure R580 will be great but don't make it sound like it's coming because R520 was a failure. It's coming simply because it was the next chip on their roadmap.

and what do i come across??
the x1900xtx, 699.99 retail, so im guessing this is msrp
what this tells me is:
1. no more paper launches from ati, and should have great availibility
2. friggin cards are gettin expensive...
3. shouldnt be too long![]()
I would love to hear your explanation of what CF has to do with purchasing stuff on the internet, this ought to be good.Originally posted by: Snakexor
dont try and hide your lack of knowledge because youve only worked at bby a few weeks with your barrage of "jackass" insults....i dont feel i warranted that kind of language simply correcting you on your miscorrection![]()

As for the discount, it isn't all that great either, the only time you save any significant money is on items that have a high markup over cost, like just about any accessory or service plans, that is what BBY makes their money off of, not computers, tvs, videocards etc.

If you work at Best Buy then you should know that it doesn't mean jack if its in the system. You don't know that that item is coming into stores. The X800XT was listed in the system forever and the best card seen in most stores was the 6800GT. It will likely be available only on Customer Fulfillment or maybe the website. It also does not mean the end of paper launches. BBY may allocate stock for it, but that doesn't mean ATI can deliver it. Same that with the X800XT in BBY stores back in the day.Originally posted by: Snakexor

Its cool to see that it is in planning, but I wouldn't base any buying decisions on this info. It'll likely turn out just like the past two major ATI card launches (X800 series & X1800 series): FUD!![]()
hello fanboism and misinformation....
us having them available on cf usually means you can purchase them anywheres on the internet, which for most of us on AT, thats how we get our product, not a B&M store. second, you just talk yourself into a circle, if the best we carry is the 6800gt, that should be telling you something about the validity of what BBY has on their shelves as to the availibility of a product....

When it is a 3rd party defect, I dont see how you can blame ATi for it being late.
The R580 did not have the defect, so work continued on it. It is on time, and has been planned all along. Its not coming out because the R520 was broken, or a bad performer.

Have you ever thought about tax?
By the way, if you really have to know, BBY (and any other retail that sells performance guarantees for that matter) makes about 300-400 percent of those services. 33 percent is nothing. The rule of the thumb is that any PG is worth about 10% of the value of the item when it's new regardless how many years the services is so when a product is valued at 100 dollars that means at any point in purchasing the product the service price for that item is 10 dollars. Look at your service plan prices and take 300-400 percent off it. That is the true price the corporate got from the insurance company.
OP, with all due respect, don't take your managers statement by face and don't think many of us never worked in retail either. Many us might even was a manager in one of those retailer and some point with deeper knowledge than you are.
Instead of fighting us off, why don't you learn for a change?

Yeah but mostly those were second tier products(at least a few years ago when I worked there) the Intel and AMD deals used to be good for the CPU/mobo combos.
