How far have ppl managed to overclock these cards - and how did u manage it?

well using ATi's overdrive... it reckoned my sapphire X1900XT can do around 700 core 800 mem, this come with the ATi drivers.

if you get ATi tool you can adjust voltages and the like as well as core/mem speeds and possibly go further. i think all XT's will easily do XTX speeds, and i think Most XT's now come with the same 1.1ns ram used on the XTX's

in theory that ram is capable of around 900mhz (ie 1800Mhz effective)

Any body using aftermarker coolers? Heard the XTs were noisy bastards

They are noisy, espeically if the fan is running at 100%. I could hear it outside my room!
But heres what i did to fix it, its silent now.

Or you can just buy the HIS model of the X1900XT. It's pretty much the same price as the the other X1900XT's, maby $10-20 more expensive?

It's probably worth it to get a cooler that was designed to fit on an ATI X1900 instead of using the NV Silencer (that doesn't cover the ram)

Clocks are in sig. Cooling is Maze4 block. I use ATI Tool Beta 14 which works very well.

I would say the only Water Cooling is probably better than the stock cooling on a X1900XT. Sure it's loud, but it gets the job done.

the HIS model - is that the 'silent' one? I'm really more concerned about performance - but I'd like to avoid huge amounts of noise if possible - is the card ok at idle?

the HIS x1900xt ICEQ is suopposedly a little more quiet

On air with stock volts (1.4/2.086/2.086/1.486) I can get 721/828. Haven't tried it with higher volts or better cooling yet.

It's actually a pretty decent reduction in db. Guru3D measured it at the same level as a 7900GTX.
