Mine gets to 83C with extremely intensive gaming. 100C would freak me out.
I would RMA it instead to avoid issues. Patience will help.

Also, I would recommend you change it for a 7900 GTX since these things get WAY too hot. VERY loud stock cooler. I bought an Accelero X2 which fixed the noise problem but it still is not adequate enough for this ultra hot card.

Most of the high-end video cards in the last two years have hit temps like you're seeing with your X1900XT. My X850XT PE hit 80-85C under load and my 7800GTX hit low 80's. It's normal.

OP- I would definetely RMA that card.

i once forgot to plug in the fan after messing around with it and it hit 103c and i hit the power switch wit da quickness!!

worked fine after i plugged it in again though

with stock fan settings and decent case...u should be idling high 40s touching low 50's depending on ambient

load should be in the mid to high 70s or low 80s

something is definitely wrong...most likely bad contact or ur hsf is clogged or something

I registered just to tell you that this was exactly what I needed and it completely solved my problem, Oblivion was shutting down my system at completely random times (and more frequently the more I played), but tweaking the fan speeds was all I needed to do to keep it cool and crash-free.

I mean, WTF? Default setting is wait until the GPU is at 100C to run the fan at 100%?

So anyways thanks.
