Ok, basically I've just gathered different benchies comparing the X1900 XTX with the 7800 GTX 512mb off the most popular websites (well the ones that come up in google first). I've only used the high quality testing results, as thats what I assume players will be playing at. There seems to be a great deal of confusion about which card is better and so on. Results if looked across the board show that both cards are very comparable with no single one demolishing the other, however the X1900 XTX takes the lead more often then not, especially in some of the newer games.
Obviously many already knew this, but just for confirmation, here are sets of results.

I know different people have, but the results are obscured with lower resolutions and lower settings being taken in to account. I've only used high quality testing results.
I think its a fairer analysis of things. I mean, honestly, who cares which card does better at 1024x768?!

Or over 100fps for that matter?

The big titles for me are BF2, and FEAR, and farcry with HDR.

On a side note, what the hell happens to ATi in SS2?

It's tricky with that game, hardly any sites have tested with it, I named one above that had where it ran a tiny bit better on the GTX 512mb, however in Rage3D's review the X1900 does totally rubbish, but the site mentioned it was a driver error that would be hopefully be fixed. Strangely Xibit Labs did not encounter similar issues.

Excellent post.

Even though this has sorta been done before, it's nice to see only the high resolutions used, since really, if you're running lower than 1600x1200, these cards aren't for you anyway.

The 7800GTX 512 MB is a great card...if they could just ramp up production so prices would come down, we'd be able to see a nice price war between it & the X1900XTX :)

Thanks for the post OP. I've been wondering for awhile why the chart over at NVnews included results without AA/AF. Maybe you should post this over there.

Yea, I've seen that, but I'm not to keen on that table.
It uses a mix of resolutions that imo are geared towards one card or another.
Like I said, I used only high quality testing results as that is what the users of these cards will be playing at.

i agree.

Like I mentioned above, who pays $500+ for a video card and doesn't use AA/AF? I could care less if the 512MB 7800GTX beats the X1900XTX without AA/AF. That's not why I would buy the card. It's like paying way too much for an exotic car and than, after you get beat by a $65,000 ZO6, letting the other driver know that you get better gas mileage than him and that should really count for something.
