i'm switching from the dark side! ;)
j/k

i'm so tempted by the x1900 xt/xtx that i'm actually gonna order one by the end of the night

so i need all the help i can get

give me the reason to go for a xtx instead of a xt for 50 cheaper

also, can anyone tell me about the angle independent filtering??

i'm so looking forward to what the x1900 can offer me! (maybe drastic iq improvement? ;))

i've read this too....but from the look of things, it looks like the oc is around 20mhz more???

is that really worth it?

can anyone confirm this?? (how much more improvement in ocing would i get?)

The XTX uses 1.1ns ram compared to the XT.

HQ AF allows angle independent AF. It is quite better than NV AF even with HQ setting on.

the current price on newegg is on par with what the price cut has to offer

about 490 shipped for xt (tax included)

about 545 shipped for xtx (tax included)

get the XT, the XTX is a waste of money, and as I see it, getting a card now at all is unwise. If you have to have it, get the XT.

personally...i'd like to give ati another try cause the last one i had was x800 pro

and the rumoured price drop of ati cards for xt is 479
which is about what i'm gonna pay now

Just to clear a few things up.

1) Both the XT and XTX ship with 1.1ns ram.
2) The XTX's supposedly oc better but from what I've seen it's hit and miss. At the most I'd say they will hit ~20MHz higher on the core.

Here is a sweet deal for an XTX if you haven't seen it already.

that's the exact one i'm looking at!

but the xt deal's tempting too! (50 less than xtx)

or should i hold out till the price cut?!

I bought an XTX, but only because it was £10-£15 more expensive then the XT on a one week only sale in the UK.
£380 for the Sapphire XTX is a bargain if you ask me, considering the 7800 GTX 256mb is £350 and the GTX 512mb goes from $580-£680!!

If the price/performance is right, I may even pick up a 7900 GTX.
I have a feeling they will still be better then the XTX, but who knows.
The 48 pixel pipelines is ATI's trump card. I guess we'll have to wait and see.

All I know is, ATI has better image quality and those 48 pixel pipes.
Nvidia runs OpenGL games better (Quake wars, Prey, UT2K07 anyone?) has a quieter cooler (I couldnt care less) and may OC better.

Anyone know the exact release date of the G71 range?

Sounds good to me. I'll slap my XTX on ebay tomorrow, and if the XTX ends up being better and cheaper then the 7900 GTX, and i want to keep it I'll just tell the buyer the card is no longer for sale and got stolen or something! Refund the money, do a agreed user no sale agreement and hey-presto, I'm done and dusted!

On a side note!

OMG, Spative Super sampling adaptive AA.
Makes you drool it's so nice! I cant actually see a jaggy anywhere with this on at 4X!

You know the leavs in games, such as Counter strike and HL2, they never smoothen out no matter how high the AA?
This AA just did it. Not a jaggy in sight. Phenomenal, just a shame it eats up so much performance.
