LOL
I demand Sampsa file documentation of what he paid for those cards, a history of anyone from ATI he's met online or otherwhise, and offers any video forum he posts on compensation for diverted advertising!
;)

~13K for X1800XT Xfire FX57 stock - ~13K for GTX 512 SLI FX57 Stock

FIGHT!

ATI always was good at "playing" 3dmark.

Now now I think this type of "viral" marketing is fine as we all know thats the only reason he got them.

It's when you don't know the person is paid that the problem arise. ;)

BTW Rollo while I believe that you are not working for AEG - have you considered it?

I'm sure your wife would appreciate it if you only spent half as much on your cards! :D

Hey Rollo, lets invest in some LN2 and get ATi to send us engineering samples for marketing purposes! We'll act like we bought the cards at a store to help promote their cards. For example, we could say, "dude my overclocked ATi Glaze3D XT gets 300 fps in doom at 1600x1200 6xAA/16xAF!" and people would eat it up!

That might be funny if Sampsa was really an ATI fanboy/marketing grunt, but he gets products from both the red and the green. He said the 512MB 7800GTX was going to be the new king when he got his hands on an early sample. I didn't see many people shouting then when he put that card through the ringer with some exotic cooling. Sheesh!

Sure I understand that but the 512 GTX isn't like the Crossfire edition X1800XT. Spotting the latter is like getting pictures of bigfoot.

I didn't know he did it, and 5150 and I are just joking around in any case.

Would definitely be fun to do OCing at the level this guy does it.

Here is the thread where he talks about his 7800GTX beast. Looks like after a bunch of other people threw some LN2 and DI at their 7800GTX's, Sampsa decided he didn't need to. Plenty of nice scores in that thread though.

Here is where he makes the 7800GTX's claim to 3DMark05 supremacy. Post # 107

Right, but at the time he was talking about the 512MB 7800GTX it wasn't out either. All I'm saying is that we don't need to start pointing fingers and saying overclocking gurus who get early samples and take them through the roof are just marketing for ATI. It happens on both sides of the fence and personally I think its great to see crazy benchmarks like theirs. Anyone with a rational brain can see that normal rigs with normal cooling are not going to get results like that.
