I have the dell 30" and ive been waiting for the Nvidia quad solution to rear its head but got to thinking that i really dont game FPS all that much. Just a WoW and DAOC player.

So.....i have 3 choices.

Xfire 2 x1900xt's
Xfire 2 x1900xtx's

Sli 2 x 7900gtx's
Sli 2 x 7900gt's

Which would be the best for my money?

Um... I'm not sure about DAOC, but any of those solutions would probably be massive, massive overkill for WoW even on that 30" LCD. Why don't you try maybe a single X1900XT or 7900GT and see how that works first?

My current x1900xtx still doesent max out wow. I usually however around 38fps.

You poor thing.

Since you've already got the X1900XTX, if you want to move to a dual-card solution, you could just pick up an X1900 Crossfire Edition card (although you'd need a Crossfire-capable motherboard if you don't already have one).

If you have an SLI-capable motherboard, it might be easier to ditch the X1900XTX and get two 7900GTs or 7900GTXes. If you're willing to OC them (and maybe invest in aftermarket cooling), the 7900GTs can probably OC to 7900GTX speeds.

I guess thats where im really stuck. Go x1900xtx's or 2 7900 gt's. 7900gtx's doesnt make money sense for performance.

Since you seem to not care about the money, my recommendation would be:

If you have a Crossfire-capable motherboard, or you don't mind buying one and swapping it out for your current MB, buy an X1900 Crossfire Edition card and run Crossfire.

If you have an SLI-capable motherboard, sell the X1900XTX (if you want) and buy two 7900GTs to run in SLI.

SLI > CrossFire IMO, and I've used both.

It isn't really even an issue with the cards themselves, but the motherboards. The current selection of SLI motherboards is fantastic, and you will easily find a motherboard that meets your needs. On the otherhand, CrossFire motherboards are priced like mid range SLI boards, but have the features of low end boards. For the price of a top of the line dual gpu rig, I want it to be top of the line in every aspect. If you really want to get a sense of this, go to a retail store that sells motherboards, Fry's or MicroCenter have them on display, and you quickly begin to feel a little stupid for looking at the few poorly appopinted CrossFire boards with all those numerous SLI motherboard options right next to them. This was one of the things that struck me when shopping for a CrossFire motherboard, and one of the reasons I no longer have my CrossFire rig.

Performancewise, both high end SLI and CrossFire are incredible. It won't get any better until the next generation of cards or quad SLI, so that really isn't an issue.

Also, IMO, anyone running a $2k+ 30" monitor isn't allowed to discuss something making "money sense"... My rig is better than most, but your LCD was still more espensive than my entire setup, including the LCD.

Look at the hi rez benchmarks for the X1900 Xfire, 7900GT SLI, and 7900GTX SLI setups... Dual 7900GTs is not for you.

Good find... Those benchmarks really put the size of that screen into perspective. With no AA/AF, you can get playable framerates out of an $1100 video card setup.

I bet WoW will let you add some AA/AF though, and I bet it looks fantastic on that screen.
