The whole alien virus plot was getting boring. I hope they have something new.

The first movie started out promising but then basically took a big dump. Hope this one is better. X Files was one of the very few TV shows I watched.

Cool. I liked the first movie and watched the X-Files until Mulder left. Gillian Anderson ftw.

I was a youngin' when this show was on, but I remember that I stopped watching when they focused too much on the 'central plot'. It was better when each episode was just random wacky shit.

yeah it was pretty cool when they would just go to some random town in BFE and investigate vampires, werewolves, zombies etc... maybe that little gnome can do a cameo in the new movie...

Monster of the week episodes were almost always better than the mythology episodes, barring some exceptions like the anasazi cliffhanger that ended season 2 (3?).

There are some good videos of a panel at Wondercon where Chris Carter, Gillian and Duchovny talked about the movie. They seemed genuinely excited to do one last hurrah, and there was some good fan reactions to the trailer.

I watched the 1st movie. I can't remember a damn thing about it. What happened again?

I'll see it. I'm a HUGE X-Files fan.

One of the best shows on TV EVER!

mulder & scully chased some rail cars to these giant white domes. there were bees in it. they got chased through a cornfield by a helicopter. a bee got into scully's shirt and later on when they were having a moment, the bee came out of scully's shirt and bit her. then they realized the bee was carrying a virus that renders humans useless so aliens can come and play body snatchers without incident. mulder goes up to the arctic circle and finds a huge mothership buried in the ice. hilarity ensues

It's going to focused on a "monster". This means it'll be geared towards those who were more interested in a theoretical/urban legend monster, like the Jersey Devil, parasite man, etc. Unlike the mythology series, it isn't going to have aliens, syndicate, colonists, etc.

Heh, we bought an Olds Intrigue because it was featured in the first movie

Anyway, i think Chris Carter will have better luck if the new movie's story is mostly free-standing and only include a bit of X-Files mythology here and there.
