I remember grenades being a pretty dicy gamble early on in the game. But I have seen worse since in other games (where the grenade bounces back on the soldier 50% of the time).

I use grenades pretty regularly because long-range shots are a lot less likely to be on target, however last night on a new game (no armour yet), I primed a grenade near the skyranger, got shot when an alien reacted during my turn, and because the dead soldier had three grenades around him, I didn't have enough time to pick them all up. 5 soldiers went pop. Oops :)

OK, yeah. I remember priming grenades and then getting attacked which caused them to go off prematurely as well. I think I had happen once when I was at the very beginning of my deployment. Took out the entire squad.

But yeah, they were an integral part of the game. You needed them in certain situations so you couldn't merely abandon them.

I am guessing with the smaller squads in the new game that they won't work the same way. Looking forward to finding out.

What? No recreation center? How do the soldiers unwind after a hard day of "Bug Hunting"?

Apparently there is something like that where you'll see your actual soldiers shooting pool and such.

They said there's way more modules available to build than what htey show here.

No "new" footage or info, but it is full video of the entire mission played out they've showed in screen shots over and over. Stream from PAX East. XCom footage starts @ 4:00m. Video also contains CiV: G&K and Borderlands 2 footage.

I might start going to church and praying that it doesn't turn out like the hype mill Civilizaiton V. I mean how do you screw up a game that was successfully launched 4 times earlier? I don't even want to mention Railroads!

My EX was obsessed with Apocalypse. It was really the first game that she got into in any real way (other than Diablo).

Hehe - I will play a troll and tell you how to never run out of money in the XCom:

just start producing and selling "laser cannon" aircraft weapon in your workshop. For whatever reason it has the biggest ROI in the game and it does not require Ellirium115 or any "Allien Alloy"
:)

I hope that they will leave some of these "hacks & mods & bugs" that made the original game so much fun...

P.S. Why no one though about this before? What took them so long?
