evilavatar.com is saying that the game is very very buggy, I'm going to wait till some folks buy it and really try it out, or this could be another Tribes2 fiasco. :)

huge let down from what i have read so far. they canned naval ships and planes for a few months. the only thing right now is infantry, tanks, and trucks. that's it. and a 60+ meg patch before you can even play. btw that patch is not resumable either! so you 56kers will be plenty pissed. on top of that the game came out today, but not the online part aparently. you cant play it yet lol, servers are offline. no eta from what i have read.

Hmm... I wonder if any company will ever get a online game released without any problems? Everquest, UO, and DiabloII all had major problems...

Tribes 2 had problems too, but at least it was playable. The community features didn't work, but the servers were all up.

We can only hope that it gets better as time goes on and OL games become more widespread.

Saw this on a message board:

<<Strategy First today released a statement concerning the recent launch of World War II Online, its massively multiplayer combat game. According to the company, initial game sales far exceeded expectations, with almost a third of the total projected sales reached on the first day of release. Although the game has clearly been successful from a sales standpoint, the actual game experience has been hampered by a large number of players being unable to register or play the game. Playnet's Cornered Rat Software, the developer of the game, has attributed the problems to a hardware problem with the game servers and is in the process of addressing it. The company expects to increase the server capacity in a matter of hours.

Cornered Rat also released a large patch for the game, which contains new terrain, vehicles, and weapons, according to Christina Ginger of Strategy First. When asked if the launch problems could have been avoided if the developer had conducted a larger open beta test, Ginger noted that the developer would have liked to have run a larger open beta but was unable to do so due to the development schedule. Ginger added that many massively multiplayer games go through growing pains at launch, and she expects the World War II Online server problems to be fixed shortly. >>

>Anyone have more first hand info? <

I've been in the closed beta for some time, and I stopped playing it after the first week...I tried it again 2 weeks ago, since they were just about to ship...got all the patches downloaded, went into the game, left it an hour later with maybe 20 minutes of gametime, tops...constantly booted to the desktop....very long load times to spawn in, long time to enter the game..etc...etc...not sure when they are going to cancel the beta accounts, but I don't plan to try it again for another couple months, at least...

Weren't we all ;) I don;t play flight sims, but my friend (also a beta tester) is a flyboy nut! He's the one who got me into this game and we were pumped...him in the air, me in the tank...a few others as grunts and supply truck people :) ...he, too, cancelled his order for the beta ;( have you played Combat Mission? I was hoping for a game like that with a real-time dukie huge multiplayer aspect to it.
