Why does Spiderman have to be white?
I think the point is that he is a marvel comics character, Peter Parker, who was white originally. Like someone said, it's like taking a black character and having a white man play him. It's not correct.

Not that I care who plays him.

And, whats a nubian?
It's either someone who originates from the Nubian desert in Africa or an ATer with a recent join date.

Spiderman has to be white because he's...well...white. It'd be like casting Arnold Swarzenegger as Shaft (at least, back in the day). It just wouldn't work.

Well, Spiderman was written back in the early 1960s. I'd say there was a zero...point...zero percent chance of him being written as a black superhero in that time in our history.

I honestly don't give a crap if they cast Spiderman with a black actor. Whether it succeeds or fails will ultimately come down to the story, the cast (especially the main characters), and how well it is marketed. I don't think it matters at all whether he's black or white.

Haha, you need to see Chasing Amy.

This is an outrage. Knowing what color the actor's skin is beneath the mask will ruin the film.

Christ, what else is news these days, Paris Hilton's daily outfit? x_x

I don't really see what the big deal is at all. In fact, creative casting and reinventing characters is fun. Heck, I'd love to see an Asian superman (or Kent in particular)... The thing is the original characters were made during a time when diversity wasn't important. Now it is and, short of making lame new characters, what's so wrong about race neutral casting for characters we already know and love? Peter Parker's main physical trait was that he was a nerd, and TV on the Radio's proof positive that black nerds do in fact exist.''

As long as they cast Jim Norton again I don't care.

His performance in the first movie was fantastic, very ashamed he didn't get at least an Oscar nomination.

wait, what about when they cast Halle Berry as Storm in X-Men? this black spider may just work

lol wut? Storm is at least half black just like Halle Berry

She is dark skinned as originally portrayed in the comics. I think the cartoon character was white IIRC.

No, she was definitely black.

Why does Spiderman have to be white?

for the same reason why Blade, Cyborg, or Storm should be black

might as well make Superman black next

Who cares? The Spider Man movies killed the superhero for me, pussified the hell out of peter parker for one. 90s cartoon for life.

Peter Parker started off as a major pussy.

1 and 2 were fantastic....3 was stretched way beyond it's capacity. Shame, too, having completely ruined the potential for the black costume storyline/Venom.

Storm was always black. She's some tribal elder from some African country, iirc. She was even "blacker" in the cartoon. meaning, her dialogue never hesitated to bring out the "I am from Africa, rage with me winds and fires," blah blah shitty spiel.

Probably because of these stereotypes you will never see an asian superhero from hollywood. They make better villians because their slanted eyes just scream of treachery.:D

Heck, they took a traditionally asian superhero and replaced him with a white boy a la Dragonball.

So its OK to have a black Superman / Wolverine / *insert any iconic figure here*

Where do you draw the line? They should of made Captain Kirk black in the last Star Trek movie. Hell, why stop at race, why not just make Wolverine a chick in the next flick.

Its not OK and its retarded. And don't make my rant out to be some sort of racist post because it has nothing to do with that.

Nick Fury was a mistake but it isn't as big of a deal simply because he is more of a secondary character, but you have to draw the line somewhere.

The character Peter Parker is who he is, just like War Machine was black and it would of been stupid to make him white.

I say do away with Spiderman entirely and make it Spiderwomen, Kirsten Dunst is not hot and these flicks need more sex appeal. Make all the x-men chicks too, except Rogue should be a little black kid with a white mark in his fro.

race doesn't play a role in spidermans character. he is supposed to be a regular nerdy kid from the city. nothing about that has anything to do with race.

Only in ATOT and stormfront. Who gives a fuck? Seriously, It's a fictional character which by definition is open to fiction and changes..

LOL at retards making white MLK comparison, a non fiction character. When they make GWB black in a movie then you can bitch.

Pretty Much this.

There are exceptions to this, like Nick Fury; whilst originally white; hes black in the Ultimate universe.

There hasn't been a black Spiderman in the comics, so it just doesn't make sense.

Weird. I understand black Nick Fury because he's black in Ultimates, but Spider-Man has never been black in any incarnation I can think of ...

First they change Kingpin in Daredevil, then Nick Fury in Iron Man. Oh, Silver Surfers voice is done by a black actor too.
D.C. Comics is guilty too. Changing Catwoman to a black character.

Catwomen was both black and white. they have had more then one.

Nick fury is black in ultimate s. they are doing that fury (eye patch and black) as for SS he is being from another world so who knows what his voice should be.

though i agree changing Spiderman to a black man would be weird.

Why does Spiderman have to be white?
He doesn't have to be, it would just be a bit odd if this was a sequel and they all of a sudden changed the race of the main character. It would be a bit different if they reboot the series.
