An unlimited with all modules of SAP probably approaches 50 million.

Price is always negotiable however. With most software you can talk them down 20-40%.

ERP systems can cost millions of dollars. My previous company put in an installation of JDEdwards(owned by PeopleSoft, now owned by Oracle) and that cost roughly 30 million dollars. They ditched it after about 2.5 years and went back to BPCS(an AS400 based ERP system).

Why so much?

becuase they have the market and can charge pretty much what they want.

I never knew it cost that much. I guess that's one of the perks of working for the federal government. Price doesn't matter. :p

EDIT: http://www.recrystallize.com/m...crystal-reports-11.htm

Where did you pull the $70,000 figure? Your ass?

Stop posting until you know what the hell you're talking about.

http://www.cdw.com/shop/produc...fault.aspx?EDC=1139967

That price is for a server license and 5 USER licenses. He's talking about per processor licenses, which means unlimited users can access the software.

I still don't see $70,000.

I use software that is $15,000 per user, per year.

http://www.cdw.com/shop/produc...efault.aspx?EDC=968868

There you go. Probably not the same software package that the OP is talking about.

When it's backed by top notch support, it's just the cost of doing business.

If you're the 'Gubmint.' The sad reality is that ALL corporations (at least the ones I know of) have built their businesses by either copying another corporation's business plan or by following what I laughingly call 'generally accepted business principles as taught in American universities."

I guess it comes down to how you measure success.

Yeah, CR XI is a pricey necessity for many organizations. Oh, and I absolutely hate Crystal Reports.

What's up with the Crystal haters? What's so good about the few alternatives? Granted, I've never used anything but Crystal (and the bastardized MS Access report writer) for writing reports, but I find it exceptionally easy to use, and it's definitely got a lot of features (more than most people would ever need...).

citrix rocks. maybe if you open a book and learn how to admin it (if thats your role) you might have better performance.

I am not an admin, just a user, and I hate it. Kicks me off randomly, can't use Outlook to listen to voice mails, and it's slow. Oh and some devices won't work.

Sounds like a lot of what you are experiencing is having bad admins.

Not many are really good at supporting Citrix. We use it in our Fortune 400 enterprize and it's surprisingly robust.

We don't have sound enabled through it, but it's only used for remote access to Outlook. In house, you should be connecting to an exchange server.

Crystal is expensive. We have 10 licenses for our location, I think the next 'bump' up is $50k

Speaking of Licenses, anyone know how much the cadence virtuoso suite costs per license, and HSpice? Just curious as to how much the software I use costs.

Sign me up as another disgruntled Citrix user.

Here's my experience with Citrix:

33% of the time everything works fine
33% of the time it takes an ass-long time(>10 min) to load
33% of the time it doesn't work at all, and I need to restart my browser/ reboot my computer/ wait for sometime/ make ritual pagan sacrifices for it to start working again.

I freaking hate it.

I figure you guys are talking about Crystal Reports. At one time, I used to be the guru of that software at Accenture. Yeah, it was expensive, but damn useful in integrating everything together from disparate systems.

Yeah, license costs can climb to some pretty crazy numbers pretty damn fast.
The place I'm sitting at now is having "talks"(more like the people over here being pissed at the reseller) about a bunch of Veritas licenses.
I think the latest bid was 2+ millions.

I hear some pretty funky numbers from my father sometimes as well, he works as a consultant, specializing in SAP software, the price of that stuff seems to be rivaled only by it's complexity.

I've used Crystal before, installing a package of software on clients pcs. Never realized that it was so pricey. I think we were using a chopped or old version or something though.

Are you talking about Business Objects XI? It's not called Crystal any more, at least not on the server end. The report designer still is Crystal Reports though.
