I work at shaws supermarkets, and I recieved my paycheck for the last two weeks.....last week i worked 3hrs, and my paycheck was $0.00, and this week i worked 6 hours, and my check was for $1.99!!! I'm so pissed....fvckin union

Union dues suck. If I had known about unions when I worked in the supermarket as a teenager I would have never given them a single dollar of my money!

You can't blame the union.

You agreed to have dues taken out of your check when you started that job...

Well... without going too much into detail...

If you work in a supermarket, in most cases the employees are Union members. This is a requirement by the supermarket, because they don't want there to be competition between union and non-union employees.

Basically, the Union requires certain amounts of money to be able to fund strikes and such, and they feel that every person that works there owes this to them.

(That's a very rough summary of the whole deal.)

A union has to take in dues. A union has bills just like any other business. It's not about how they "feel that every person that works there owes this to them".

I say that meaning that the average teenager working there doesn't give a crap about the Union, striking if there is some dispute or any of that crap.
But it IS that they feel that, because workers aren't given a chance to opt out of the Union. With the only qualification of being forced to pay Union dues is that you are employed at the place, this is a load of crap. My wording was to be taken lightly, but it is true to most people.

Unions can suck it. Why should the average teen have to get the shaft just to pay their bills?

I've read it a million other times on this board. No one is forcing them to work at that story. They can quit and find another job any time they please. That's not crap, that is the way it is.
