WTF Worst DRM ever

he other way to view this, is one USER has purchased the game. Not the whole family. So why should your brother play for free?

OMG.

Why can't people please stop supporting stupid companies like this. Just don't buy there products.

I don't think he does. Based on what I'm reading, the Bioshock DRM system is significantly more restrictive.

Ouch. That's really lame. I run linux and thus can't run bioshock and after reading that I'm considering downloading + sharing the torrent of the game just out of spite.

It's sad to see DRM reach this level?

Is Bioshock 1player or pvp/net game?

If it is single player game I propose the following:

Once the DRM is cracked, I propose all people against DRM share this via any means necessary, to send a message.

This company needs to be made an example of.

to be fair it was hidden.

I purchased bioshock (great game though!). then it came out that you could only install it twice (they uped it to 5 after people bitched). sopposedly if you uninstall it you got another install. well that was not working.

not to mention it installs a "rootkit" (hidden crap on your machine) that was not known.

also it had a screwup with the field of view on widescreens.

i WOULD NOT buy it i had known all the crap.

You know what is worse than people pirating your game? NO ONE buying your game. I'm definitely not touching this one. As a matter of fact, if PC games continue down this path, I'll just stick to playing all games on my 360.

pretty sure it's already been cracked. don't know why anyone would support 2k now

According to Symantec and other sources there is no rootkit, only a hidden registry key & folder.

The limit of 5 insatllations however is accurate & bad enough by itself so that I'm not likely to purchase the game.

You can "deauthorize" computers in iTunes.
Well bioshock, I'm not even really sure what the buzz is all about. I have been done with FPS for a while...last FPS I bought (and played) was HL2:EP1.

Can you call after the 5 to get it activated like you can with Windows??

Yes.

I'm pretty sure talking about pirating software will get you banned here.

THERE IS NO ROOTKIT!! It's been explained by 2K and many others that this game DOES NOT have a rootkit. People throw that word around like they know what they're talking about.

I still don't get what people are mad about. When you buy Office or Windows guess how many activations you get? 1!! Just one. Then when you want to reinstall guess who you have to call? MS!! And guess what you have to do? Enter a 25-digit product key, listen to them tell you they can't activate it and transfer you to a rep, then they read you a 40-character key back - usually a 8 minute process. People don't get all up in arms about that, do they?

One activation per machine. If my wife uses the same computer but on a different login, I don't have to go buy another copy of Office for her to use on her login. That is the point.

there is a diffrence between a game and OS. I am sure you can even understand that?

there is no reason that i can't install the game on my machine and my 2 kids if i want. I should not have to buy it 3 times. I shouldnt have to jump through hoops etc to play.

and yes people complaine about MS actavation all the time.

Ok then forget Windows, how about Office? When you buy it, you're buying 1 license for 1 computer. Sure it works for as many users as you want, but you could also say Bioshock works for up to 5 users on that system. You can't install Office on more than one computer and I've never heard complaints about that, people just accept it.

As a matter of fact, you can install Bioshock on up to 5 systems at once. It's just that once you hit 5 you have to call 2K to release some of your installations.
