I"ve got the A7N8X dlx mobo and update tells me there is a driver update for it. I installed it once and seriously F'ed up my sound too.
Same here. Don't ever install the sound update for the A7N8X from Microsoft. I had to revert to a previous backup in order to get my sound working again.Originally posted by: prvteye2003

Maybe, but what I'm saying is that since you installed that update from Windows, the onboard sound is taking control of your sound. Try plugging in your speakers to the onboard sound and see if that works.Originally posted by: Spooner
Will taking out the card, uninstalling drivers, and putting the card back in help at all?
This definitely sounds like the way to go. I'll bet that's what happened.Originally posted by: filmmaker

You'll need to uninstall the onboard A7N8X sound driver and reinstall the older one, then possibly reinstall the Turtle Beach sound card driver.
Ahh! Excatly what happened.Originally posted by: filmmaker

You might trying to disable the onboard sound in the BIOS.Originally posted by: Spooner

If I disable the onboard sound in BIOS, will that fix?
Also, which is better ? this mobo's onboard sound or my Turtle Beach Santa Cruz?
