WTF why is gas $2.99 gallon again? And why do idiots work in them?

I just got home from filling up and it cost a whopping $40+ to fill up a Jetta... WTF. Gas went up like 30 cents per gallon in a day. Did Iraq blow up or something? WHY IS THIS HAPPENNING?

On top of that the tire air filling thingy is now 75 cents? That's 33% (actually 50% as Fayd pointed out) higher than before! And the jackass behind the counter wouldn't break a dollar, I had to buy a pack of gum to get another quarter, and then he gave me change in dimes and nickels. The douchebag didn't have quarters at all. WHY DIDN'T he tell me that when he KNEW I was buying gum to get a quarter?

Now I have like 2 tires that are 3 PSI off what they should be. I hate gas stations, and the retards that work in them. :|

its a holiday weekend and the guy working there is sick of people treating him like its his fault the prices went up.

He should find another job then. Isn't Obama creating jobs for people like him?

Thats pretty high - Premium is $2.79 here in Cali.

Exactly. I don't get how stations here in the Bronx, NY get away with it. It's only Friday night too, I can imagine how high it will be tomorrow and Sunday.

was it 50 cents before?

And in cali there is a law that says if you are a paying customer, the gas station needs to provide access to the air and water machine for free. You can just walk in and ask them to turn it on after you have pumped your gas... no quarters needed.

Ah, I've seen stations in New Jersey provide free air, and they pump your gas for you, for like 50 cents less than NY.

I wonder if they have a similar law.

No, in Jersey they don't have to provide you with free air/water.

You guys still have the best gas prices in the nation (probably.) I always try to fill up whenever I am down there.

Stop filling up on a holiday weekend.

They love people that do that.

I had no choice, the last time I filled up was nearly 5 or 6 weeks ago. I am planning to use my car this weekend.

They are going to nickel and dime it back up to record levels by saying that "it is x% lower than last year" over and over again. $4/gal here we come again....

Yeah, I started reading a few articles on gas pricing and that seems to be the theme this year.
