It would seem to me the idea is to make sure the *murderer* never had a gun in the first place, not to make sure everyone else has one too...

It's easy to get a gun illegally, just as it's easy to get illegal drugs. If you're willing to murder people, I doubt that obeying the law is at the top of your priorities.

If you banned guns, those who are willing to obtain them illegally would still be able to get them, whereas the law abiding citizens would be disarmed.

sigh. it's beyond words.

did anyone catch the cell phone video, i sure hope that's the cops firing on the gunman and not the gunman executing hostages/students

I think it was the gunman firing on the innocent. That was posted early in the breaking news.

This will also probably effect the Tactical Weapons Ban that was not recently passed...but it sounds like a hand gun was used.

🙁

new update: my friend just called, he was in norris hall and saw the gunman outside his classroom, he said the guy shot at the door to their classroom trying to get in, but couldn't.

that's really damn scary... 20 people, and norris hall is the ESM department... i can't imagine that i don't know someone that got shot... as much as i want to deny it... i probably will.

CNN: 22 dead, 21 wounded...you can bet that 22 will rise 🙁

Yea sadly because local medical centers will be overwhelmed because I'm sure they aren't quite equipped to handle this....it tears me up because I work in a trauma hospital and we're used to dealing with this and just reading about this tears me apart as a nurse and makes me pray for all those doctors and nurses taking care of all those people.....and of course pray for the victims and their families....God...

"gun free zone" so basically a gunmen can come shooting without the fear that someone else might have a gun to defend himself. nice. oxymoronic for militia virginia.

i can't wait for anti-gun lobby to take on this one.

From my link above:
The students and faculty were barricading themselves in their classrooms after what one person described as an Asian student wearing a vest opened fire.

The shooter was "wearing a vest covered in clips was just unloading on their door, going from classroom to classroom ? they said it never seemed like it was going to stop and there was just blood all over," Harrison said.

Is it me or did the title just change? I was hoping it was the OP, but I think it was the mod under his regular account making the title more obvious so no more reposts because there is no edited line.

Another press conference is scheduled soon. Some of the wounded are in critical condition, the death tole may rise. 🙁

How does this make sense?
?Local FOX affiliate WFXR-TV in Richmond reported that one shooting occurred between 7:15 a.m. and 7:30 a.m. at West Ambler Johnston, and another at 10 a.m. at Norris Hall.?

why in the world didn't they cancel class or at least evacuate the campus. They had over two hours from that statement

That's what confuses the hell out of me.
