2 million is a ridiculous figure. The number of people Saddam Hussein killed has been estimated at around 100,000. That
number includes the people he killed in southern Iraq after the former Bush administration roused them to revolt then abandoned them to Saddam's troops.

When all else fails the US should admit their past mistakes and try, instead of invading and occupying a sovereign nation, to not repeat those mistakes.

It's already been established about 100 posts ago in this discussion that Iraqis are no longer able to freely buy weapons. There are limits on what type and the amount of weapons each household contains. For such limits to be present, someone has to keep count. That's why weapons have to be registered.

If american snipers do not shoot people buying guns out in the open market, then those weapons will either be takin by Saddam loyalists, or sold to Saddam loyalists and be used against American troops on the streets of Baghdad.

Those men were shot in the open not only because they were breaking military law, but as a show of force. Do u think the US Army is going to have to come back to Tikrit because someone was selling weapons off a tarp in the middle of a market? Hell no.

And as for the Kurds, that is 100% absurd. They are discriminated against in Turkey, and persecuted in Iraq.

Since we do live in a Country with the right of a speedy trial , I do find it a little appalling that they would authorize such a death squad. Granted, In war time things have to be permissible to insure the safty of troops and civilians . But this seems like something we would resort to only in Vietnam.

However I'm confident the military did a full investigation on where the Ak-47's came from and what they were going to be used for. I'm putting faith in the military intelligence that they are not shooting innocents. I just don't see US military authorizing such a course of action without any just cause.
