I mean, I am a U2 fan, but "Atomic Bomb" has to be their worst album!

5 Grammys and counting! Is Hollywood kissing up to Time's Man of the Year or what?

I really don't think "Atomic Bomb" is their worst album. I'd say "Zooropa" has got to be their worst album.

Nooo! I don't like any of their albums following Zooropa, but c'mon, didn't Zooropa grow on you? It was such a departure for them back then. Still sounds great.

<---big fan of all that pre-dates Pop. Pop and all to follow is aka garbage.

I don't understand why everyone there tries to be black
Is that the new cool? I didn't realize R'n'B took over the world of American music.

the grammys are the worst display of music that we see every year. if you like to comply with the mainstream corporate america you could win alot like fagO and U2. the best music is from independants i think.

I don't think that the industry is necessarily kissing up as the songs on this particular album are quite powerful. I agree that the arrangements aren't particularly spectacular and lack most of the techno-wizadry that is typically used to grab the listeners attention.

As others have stated, I also am of the opinion that the overall variety/quality of music from mainstream rock/pop labels appears to be suffering when compared to years past.

It may not be completely accurate, but my recollection is that 'back in the day' it was not uncommon to have groups such as (list follows) regularly competing for airtime and consumer attention ... all in the same 5 - 10 year period. If we compare today with the 5 - 10 year period I have in my mind, I don't think that we are even close.

AC/DC, ASIA, Blondie, Chicago, The Clash, Culture Club, The Eagles, Def Leppard, Dire Straits, Duran Duran, Genesis, Guns n Roses, Hall and Oates, INXS, Journey, King Crimson, The Kinks, Men at Work, The Police, The Pretenders, Queen, REM. REO Speedwagon, The Steve Miller Band, Squeeze, ToTo, ZZ Top

If you think Atomic was their worst album yet you can't call yourself a fan of U2, as you've never been through the "dark days".

The Grammy's, like every entertainment award show, is a gigantic circle jerk.

I refuse to watch any of them.
