My response is that Jeff and yourself are proving to be typical Massholes. No clue about the world that is beyond 1 1/2 feet around you.

While joining and posting here probably seemed like a good idea, its really not. This is an internet forum full of computer nerds who generally dislike politicians and are not afraid to speak our minds. You are not in a place that you can control and neither am I. Hence my posts. This is not a conversation that I take seriously and I doubt many reading this will.

Its a little late for me to get into super rudeguy mode, so I'll leave you with this:

When I was a young man, I wanted to change the world.

I found it was difficult to change the world, so I tried to change my nation.

When I found I couldn't change the nation, I began to focus on my town. I couldn't change the town and as an older man, I tried to change my family.

Speaking of assumptions, I'm not older, I'm 26.

The reason politicians do their campaigns the same way is that it WORKS to get them elected. Thinking outside the box is only valuable when it's effective. In this case, it isn't, proven by the reaction Jeff is getting right now. He doesn't look like a smart out of the box thinking up and comer, he looks like a socially inadept, slightly creepy, chip on his shoulder dumb guy who doesn't know how to get around in the real worlld even in his own life.

And the majority of people remember only the negative when they hear a negative allegation refuted. Sure there are thinkers out there but if you're running for office you need the majority, not the small group of thinkers. Politicians LIVE to make their opponent defend themself, no matter how unfounded the accusation, because it practically guarantees their win. Here Jeff is doing it to himself.

The desire to create art may come from the soul, but the talent to create it comes from the mind and the hand.
On another note, assigning a value to something does not actually make it worth the value assigned to it.
One more thing, BBQ chicken pizza is awesome, and Terabyte's post is making me hungry.

Can I ask what a Masshole is? What are the specific qualifications? I may be born in one state, but that does not make me who I am. Yes people, can only change themselves. that I agree with. But in changing ones-self, we need to look at our own mistakes and be honest about them. You are using the fact that someone is from one state, to judge their actions. Now when I turned the table and made an assumption about you, the only thing you verified was your age. that is nowhere on your profile. I never said I was in a place I can control. I am questioning people and their statements. The reason I questioned and pointed out yours, was because of the stereotype. the lack of a valid argument is what I asking for, and I still have nothing. I think if people are going to read this they may take it seriously.

Just to make a point. By your post, I am going to assume you are a single bitter male. You have insecurities about yourself, so in turn will point out faults or actions about others. The only problem is the way you are doing so. Now being that I am in your eyes a "Masshole", why would you care about any of the politics going on in a place you hate evryone, and everything about? This doesn't effect you, so do you think your opinion matters?

Art is in the eye of the beholder. Value is something that can either be financial, or emotional. If a person can draw and write and be an artist, they have a way of expressing themselves. The actual value being placed usually comes from the item being rare, like an unsigned painting. I am not a person of the art world, but I can see where artists get their inspiration, most times.

Why are you so interested in me?

I am far from bitter. I'm actually one of the happiest and most grateful people you will ever meet. But I am not afraid to be blunt. "Jeff" opened himself to public opinion when he opted to post his business on the internet.

And to be a Masshole only requires that you be from Mass. Something about people not being able to pronounce their own state's name annoys me.

Initial reactions are always thought about later. It is how we become stronger, smarter people. This is just one part of the reaction spectrum. It is also making people think. Sometimes we need to really discuss and think about certain things before we can see the other points. I think being honest about his life, and his decisions is showing how human he is. So he is not a seasoned politician, that follows the typical way a campaign is run. Does that mean he is not making people think? I think doing something that everyone else does and follows, shows weakness. It also shows there is no real thought into a person's actions.

Many reasons. first, you used a stereotype as an argument. that only reflects you have nothing to argue with. Second, you called a person an idiot, with nothing other than the stereotype to back it up. Third, you are passing a judgement on a person, you really know only what the video showed. fourth, you still have not argued a valid point, other than he is from Massachusetts. I am sure you are not perfect, no one is. Rather than ask why, you judged him on a video, and the state he was born. Then you also disrespect a person who questions your statements. Rather than actually debate them, you become disrespectrul and throw out nothing significant. I asked a very simple question of where you are from, and still no answer on that. You are correct that art is in the eye of the beholder.
It takes talent and skill to create art that others enjoy. And Fame comes from being able to create works of art that others enjoy.
The enjoyment that one receives from art is what gives it it's value, rarity is only comes in to play once fame has been achieved.
Jeff, sadly, doesn't seem to possess the talent or skill to create art that is enjoyable by others, therefore he is not likely to achieve the fame that is required to have rarity come in to play for the value of his art.

As was mentioned by other people, waging a forum war will NOT help you. I have to admit I'm completely ignorant of the politics that go on south of me, but from the ads on TV and now this, I have to scratch my head. What happened when Ted died?

My advice is similar to that before. Cut your losses and call it a night.

When the thread was first brought up, I was like "huh, guy doesn't have to much of a shot, but at least his heart is in the right place." My view is sliding more and more towards the "this guy is a moron."

If you want to keep posting for my reading pleasure, go ahead. But I guarantee when the news/you opponents get a hold of this, you're screwed.

Actual value doesn't come from something being rare, it comes from something being in demand. I can have something that is absolutely unique, one of the kind, and it doesn't get rarer than that, and it will still be absolutely worthless if it isn't in demand.

Such as this unsigned painting. Art from an artist nobody's heard of is not in demand, therefore the scarcity of the art doesn't add to its' value.

The problem with this is you make the base assumption that most people WILL later reflect and think. The truth is, most people won't. Most people go on their assumptions and impressions. This is proven social phenomena, studied and reproducible.

So would the world be better if politicians could tape their views, broadcast them, and people would vote thoughtfully based on the validity of a person's views? Sure! Is the world really like that? Nope, and it never will be. People simply are not that invested in politics, and the majority will always vote on vague impressions and associations.
