I believe the software he is referring to is through the company "RedChair" found here.

Which explains the delay in getting a response, seeing as though it's not Creative.

To the OP, what can this software do, that Creative's can't, for your trip purposes?!?

Drag and drop support. Notmad > Creative software. For the time being for the trip, just the creative software despite it being bloated.

Yeah, I've heard good things about this software. Just never saw the need for paying for this when I have something that will already do it.

I will tell you tho, stupid Creative definitely gave me hours and hours of trouble. After new formats, I always install the updated software from websites. But their newest software wouldn't work on any on of my computers. (3) Everytime, having to go back to older versions that I have on CD. Plenty of time wasted, and needless troubleshooting thinking that my Nomad was broken.

Redchair is one of the best companies I've ever dealt with. If you had prepared for this in advance, you would not be in this problem. First off, it's pretty clear that the licenses are linked PER DEVICE. You can't go around swapping devices and hoping it'd work. This is not Windows XP here. No piracy. You should have told them you were getting a new device so they could issue you a new activation code. Contact red [at] redchairsoftware [dot] com.

Um. I did. I already contacted the RMA people (per their instructions) to get a code for my rma'd device.

chair != hat.

For just copy-paste MP3s the Creative software works just fine, you can do a custom install and only install the "nomad explorer" not all the other junk. I filled my 30 GB Zen Xtra using the Creative explorer and it worked fine.

Tip: one thing the nomad explorer is bad at is copying files from a file server drive. Copy any such files to your local drive first.

when i bought my zen 20gb 3 years ago, i never even installed creative's software. i bought redchair's notmad immediately. i received my code promptly, it's too bad that you have to wait :(. at one point i did install the creative application and it was really buggy and bloated. thankfully my iriver h340 just shows up as an external hard drive so i can drag and drop ^_^)

This ISN'T piracy. I submitted the thing early yesterday, and it is now 5pm tuesday. For software I bought I should have gotten a response, imo anyway.

If people are going to use nazi activation methods then they should have the support to back them up

To Whom It May Concern:

I sent an RMA email (per instructions given by the software) to activate my rma?d creative zen micro. This email was sent early this week.

I understand your activation requirements. However, if they are going to be so strict then the response for an activation request should not be unanswered after 24 hours, let alone 48, or honestly any length of time.

At what point is it okay to jeopardize usability of a legally purchased program in order to combat piracy? If your activations methods are going to be so enforced then there should be customer service rep?s that can activate on call.

Please take a look at my email previously sent to rma@redchairsoftware.com and sent me an activation number as soon as is convenient.

Thanks
