I told my gf that I used to go pumpkin smashing when I was in high school the day after halloween. She got all pissed off saying, "I can't believe you'd do that!"

Then the other day she said her and her friends were walking home from the gym at her college and these kids drove by and threw a couple of water ballons at them. Nobody got hit and I said as long as nobody got hurt there's no harm. They're just having a little fun. (She was walking by the dorms.) She got all pissed saying what if someone did get hurt!? I was like, they're water ballons...

btw, we're both 23. Am I wrong?

Homer Simpson, smiling politely.

Anyways, throwing water ballons from a moving car is fvcking moronic. If somebody got hit with plastic @ 25 mph, it'd damn sure leave a nice bruise. That's the kind of thing you chase people for and key the crap out of their car about LOL.

If someone threw a water balloon at me and stopped at a stop sign near by, I would open their car door, drag them out, and hit him in the face.

yes.

Some punk ass kids smashed my kids pumpkins last year. If you could have seen the hurt after the time and effort in my kids put into carving them you would change your tune. They were proud of them and i was pissed that some punk came on my property to destroy something that didnt belong to them.

water ballons is just an immature act, especially when thrown from a car at innocent people who proably do not want to get wet.

Water balloons from a moving car is VERY dangerous, 1 lb of water moving that fast packs a nasty punch.

We've had this debate before, it's not cool.

As for pumpkin smashing, although there's obviously no danger to others it's a pretty low thing to do. I would definitely think less of someone for it. ESPECIALLY since the people who get the most out of pumpkin carving are little kids. Extremely childish behavior, & if I caught somebody doing that on my property I'd likely beat the sh!t out of them.

Speaking of pumpkin smashing I am reminded of a time in which we chose to get even with the bastards. Just a few nights before Halloween the neighborhood morons decided to smash our pumpkins. We carved a few more knowing they would come back. Well, that night we sat on the roof with a garden hose waiting for the bastards to come back. It was near freezing out and as soon as they showed up and approached the porch, we soaked them.

Never again did anyone mess with our house.

hahah good job! The two years my friends and I did it, it was after halloween though when we figured the pumpkins would be thrown away anyways. I understand people getting MORE pissed if someone smashed their pumpkins before halloween.

Neither one of them is defensible.

My six year old spent about 3 hours intricately carving her pumpkin and was beamingly proud of herself for making it eally cool. When she woke up and found out it had been smashed she literally did cry.

How proud of yourself are you that as a teenager you made children cry?

Your GF sounds a great deal more mature than you considering that at 23 you still don't have any idea that your actions can affect the lives of others. I'd dump her and find someone as childish as yourself, she's obviously to good for you.

look, I'm not saying it's defensible... I did it when I was a kid. I'm just saying kids will be kids and there's no point to get pissed (like she did) over something I did 10 years ago. I wasn't going to apologize to her for my past.

I would never do it now of course.

Plus you have that mess in the streets. Who is going to clean that up?

I'd be pretty fvcking pissed off if some asshat popped me with a water ballon. It's not funny when it happens to you. Try and remember that the next time before you do something stupid or defend the actions of someone who is doing something stupid.

You should really stop arguing with your GF over trivial BS unless of course you don't like her much and want her to find another BF who is not so immature.

You're a d!ck and you're wrong. Smashing pumpkins and throwing water balloons from cars is retarded. I feel sorry for you if you actually see no problem with these activities...

Like someone else said, your GF is clearly too good for you.

Ah, I believe I see the problem. You're 23, you are no longer an adolescent, you are an adult. You have a responsibility as such to exhibit the correct behavior as an adult for adolescents to model. This prohibits you from condoning irresponsible behavior. I drank and did drugs as a teenager, I realize that teenagers do those things, I do NOT condone them and do NOT turn a blind eye when they occur in my presence. To do so would be to not accept the responsibilities of my social role. I believe your girlfriend understands this concept and that you are reluctant to take on the responsibilities inherent to your age and station.

Grow the fvck up.

That's not condescension, it's advice. Take it or leave it.

You think that smashing pumpkins and throwing water balloons is acceptable behavior. That makes you an a$$hole. Case closed.

I'm still trying to figure out why you are defending the actions of strangers instead of showing sympathy toward your girlfriend.

You're comparing smashing pumpkins and water ballon throwing to underage drinking and doing drugs? Riiiiight.... I can totally see how you've accepted your "social role" in society.
