WTF my DVD burner just fried a disc

Lol, they call them DVD burners , and then are surprised when it burns a DVD!!

Put a disc in a burner upside down and see what happens.
Wrong way up = no burn.

Chances are that the reflective layer on the disc was damaged/imperfect, and the laser directly hit the matte layer behind it.
