The "cloud" songs actually show up as regular music files to any iphone/iPad accessory, so if you plug your phone into anything, you'll end up with U2... Whether you want it or not.

U2’s new album is showing up on your iPhone whether you want it or not.

You may be able to contact Apple to have the album removed from your account, but there doesn't appear to be an automated way to do it—it doesn't show up as a "purchase" in your purchase history and as such cannot be "returned." We've reached out to Apple to get a comment on this and will update if we get a response.

My car will auto play whatever is in the music library, so the "purchased" album gets downloaded and starts playing by itself, since to all iphone/iPod accessories it looks like regular music on my phone.

It's tricky and quite elusive... none of the current versions of virus scanners have been updated to detect it

I think you're going to have to nuke your apple account, and then recreate it after the promotional period is over (it's the only way to be sure)
