WTF is wrong with me

So yeah

Been a while since i vented here. However the hours i work means that friends are scarce. And the ones i have i am not prepared to vent about this stuff.

My wife is pregnant and we found out its likely to be a girl.

Now i am super thrilled.

However my dear mother in law father in law and sister in law believe in spirits and other hippie crap. (Wife is not a hippie)

They have been hyping me up that they have spoken to their spirits and they firmly believe its a boy.

Shame on me for falling for that crap.

Its a girl.

I am NOT disappointed I just want her to be healthy.

Just had my hopes up. That it was a boy. And had myself convinced.

Fucking hippies.

I guess i am going through the roller coaster of emotions that comes with becoming a parent?

"WTF is wrong with me"

You temporarily believed in nonsense over science. Learn from your mistake and don't make the same one again.

I'm sure there's plenty wrong with you but nothing beyond that I see according to this thread, so relax and enjoy your new baby boy.

You are going to give it a sex operation right? Wouldn't want to upset the spirits. Whatever those are.

Kidding, enjoy your new daughter board. Make sure you teach it well so it doesn't fall for the same trojan horse BIOS program. Does she have a name?

Nothing is wrong with you, you're stressed.

Basically ignore your in-laws atm more or less I'd say, I do mine all except my sister in law and I think I mighta learned a lot of that from her, nod your head a lot if you have to be around em on a daily basis.

I hear you man, 2nd girl due in 2 months and there won't be a third. My family name dies with me. The good news is girls are awesome, and a whole lot easier than boys, at least so far. First turned 2 in April. 🙂

My sister uses both her maiden name and her husbands name as a joint last name. Doesn't mean your family name has to die with you.

I know the feeling - except I wanted my first born to be a girl - I didn't really want a son at all.

I'm glad you're not disappointed - I was; it's okay to be - but still - I wouldn't trade him; he's something else... and you'll find the same thing will go for your daughter.

Hippies are sometimes associated with substances like weed. If they use it could it be affecting their judgement or philosophy?

The die has already been cast. Why worry about something you don't control? You, stop whining. And tell your in-laws to STFU.

And congrats on becoming a father. Now, put your time to good use and go buy diapers and wipes.

I've heard this is the case until they become teenagers. I'll let you know when my 11-year-old becomes one. But, I'm more worried about the 8-year-old. She's already trouble.

I hear girls are much easier, that is until they come home from their date with the football team captain and have sticky hair and runny eye liner.

Yeah, I'm trying to figure out how to teach them to repel teenage boys. They already fart out loud and ask me if that was a good one.

I can't even begin to comprehend what suspension of disbelief you had to accept for the above and why you'd even allow it to begin.

How far along is the pregnancy? It's not uncommon that even if sonogram shows that it's a girl early on, there was some late development that the baby turns out to be a boy anyway.

(yes I realize that I'm just giving you yet another reason to stress this out. congrats, man 🙂)

Edit: wait a minute. the baby was born already? well never mind then 😀

Look at it from the bright side OP. On this day, your daughter was born and you have a topic to rub their in laws hippie noses in!!!

They will NOT be getting pregnant. The day they hit puberty they will be at the doctor getting injected with that 5-year implant thing, or whatever new biological marvel is available by then.

Seriously OP I have 2 girls myself & they are by far the best thing I've ever done in my life. Don't waste one second feeling bad or sorry.

Congrats man! 🙂

My thought: It's just a name, really.

Your family name persists? Ok, you've proven that people in your family line can successfully survive and reproduce. I don't think it goes far beyond that.

Want a name that persists for a long time? Discover a new unit of measure or some kind of fancy equation. 😛
Tesla, Gauss, Watt, Newton, Ohm, LaPlace......
