Wtf is up with computer builders?

About 10 years ago I got into the whole case modding thing, and I still use the case I modded for my new builds. It has a window with a blue cold cathode bulb in it, so I do keep it somewhat clean with my wire management. My wife has actually commented on it when I was working on it and it looked sloppy, so I even have her nagging about it. I'd switch back to a solid case side, but I still like the way it looks. It also acts as a night light in my office with a soft blue hue which is kind of neat.

I'm one of those completely anal wire management freaks. And some of the pics here want me to go grab my zip gun and zip strips and go to work on some of your PCs. 😱

I did something like that. I had a RGB LED light stick from a scanner and had red light up during drive access, blue when it was on, green for power saving ( I think ) all peering though a big lexan window. It lasted about a week in my apartment because it was too damn bright.

If I'm building a cheap (< $300) computer I don't bother with cable management.

Budget CPUs generally don't output enough heat for it to effect airflow significantly, though.

The main difference is that you don't go posting pictures of the internals of your 300$ computer builds though.

Moral of story, if one wants to post pictures of something they built for bragging rights, make damn sure it doesn't look like a piece of shit. Otherwise, bragging about a piece of shit is plain stupidity and a waste of bandwidth.

I'm with you on that. This is what my Celeron has to live with:

My recent sandy bridge build in my Thermaltake Armor:

It's just terrible... I plan on swapping for a Haf X for that very reason. Yes I have cable OCD and this will drive me insane.

I've built my own for years and had wires all over the place. Just got a new Case with good Cable management designed into it and now it looks quite spiffy through the window. Just don't look behind the Motherboard! 😀

i have cables kinda out of the way just for the sake of making changes easier on me if i need to do something.

video card just got a new cooler...thats probably the last thing ill do to this box until SSDs and 6-core phenoms are something i can afford

You'd hate my case.

I have four SSDs loose on the bottom, with 5 other HDDs in the normal slots.

I gave up on fancy cable-work long ago...too annoying when you switch out components often.

That's awesome. I'm going leave an SSD loose just for fun. I'm also going to run my wires right next to the fans so my computer sounds like a dirt bike.

Pics to come. Don't forget your blood pressure medication everyone!

I'm very neat when it comes to cable management. This is my new PC (can definitely be improved, though):

Mine is pretty neat inside

Pretty sure you just voided your warranty. Yes, I understand that is stock photo, but the fact that you posted picture of an open Apple product, it means you voided the warranty of ALL your Apple products.

Thank Steve, he is good to you.

That's not really the way it works, also I didn't have a warranty.
