i ordered something last friday and the status still shows "shipping soon".
both items are in stock.

does having prime expedite the process?
 
Free shipping ships last, us Prime people move to the front of the line ahead of you 🙂

It's worth it to me, but I buy all kinds of things from Amazon including books, music, games, electronics, household stuff like silverware and shower curtains.
 
Prime is amazing. free 2 day shipping. Or you can take regular processing and they give you a $1 credit for mp3 purchases. Pay like $4 and you get it in 1 day!
 
tell me about it. I ordered stuff on Monday....it has not shipped yet. what pissed me off more was that when I ordered it, it said the estimated date was the 1st. then, on Weds, it magically moved to the 5th.
 
Yeah, they are probably very backlogged. I got all of my subscription items the middle of November that usually ship at the end of the month. I contacted them and was told they would be seeing very high volume towards the end of the month, so rather than me getting items a few weeks late due to priority shipping clients(prime) they sent my goods early.

I can usually find stuff locally or on ebay for cheaper *and* get it here quicker.

Amazon used to be a good deal, but they've figured out that they can charge people *more* via Prime to get the same service they used to get for free.

More power to Amazon, but I'm not going to play.

So everyone else offers 2 day shipping for free? (which as others have agreed with, many items show up in one day)

I don't know how to see how many ITEMS I have ordered in the last year, but it does tell me that I have placed 110 ORDERS. So I have gotten a year of 2 day shipping for 73 cents an order.
 
We had at least one package due Tuesday via Prime's 2 day shipping and it did not show up, which is the first time that has happened to us. I believe it was a UPS issue though, as Amazon did get it out in time.

On the bright side, we finally got it and 7 other packages last night.

Yea we had one delayed, UPS tracking said mechanical issues.

If you order a Kindle you don't even need prime, they'll lightening ship that fucker to your door even with Super Saver. I ordered a bunch of items including a Kindle last week all super saver. Within hours I got an email shipping notice for the Kindle saying "We thought you'd like to know that we shipped this portion of your order separately to give you quicker service." Two days later it showed up.

I guess they want that book purchase money quick!
 
lol at people spending $80 a year for the privilege of getting stuff they paid for shipped to them.
