Yup. If you run a port scanner, you can determine what OS somebody is running by the open ports that are open. Windows leaves trademark ports open, which are very easy to identify. Otherwise, all you have to do is type "net send xxxx xxxx"Is it possible to just send to randomly generated IP#s?

to stop incoming messages go to dos prompt and type "net stop msg" without quotes, "net start msg" will restart it(this works in XP, should work in 2k too, if not, try message, or messanger)
