WTF is this Bitstrip crap? I'm getting these in SMS, cluttering Facebook, and generally being annoying as shit. Is this the next wave of moron meme like FarmVille, or Candy Crush?
 
It's just an app for making quickie comics featuring yourself and your friends. You have easy access to the avatars that your Facebook friends have already created.

Pretty good idea, if you ask me. Don't be so harsh.
 
Not much to go on from their site, but it looks like it promotes creativity, which is better than most of idiotbook. Probably a privacy nightmare like everything else idiotbook.

Explanation and association fail. Why not say "You must be fun at horse races" or "You must be fun at strip clubs"?

I find parties, horse races, and strip clubs to be forms of entertainment. Bitstrip not so much.

Using the term "retarded" to describe something usually bring along with it a negative feeling; anger, being upset, annoyance. I just went with one of them.

So let me ask this then; why do you find them vapid (nice vocabulary, by the way)? Unless you have some pretty unimaginative friends, they can be fairly entertaining. I have a couple friends that are in a run club with me that tend to make racing strips that have things like *one runner whipping a lion to run after the other runner for a PR*. Is that not imaginative and at least a little funny?

Maybe it's just your friends that are vapid using it rather than the idea itself? Do you find all comics vapid?

Try to just take things for face value. I find Bitstrip to be pointless because it is just another form of attention whoring that generally results in a humorless product that is anything but funny and/or thought-provoking.

I'm not really insulted, just generally curious. I find your take on it as being another form of "attention whoring" interesting. They're not supposed to be "thought provoking", considering what they are, but I'm sure that is just part of what you dislike about them.

To each their own; it's always good to hear an explanation as to why something's "retarded" rather than just leaving it at that 🙂
 
I think it will be short lived like draw something was. I am already over bitstrips mostly. I played farmville and candy crush for many months. Although I think part of that reason is that I am the only person I have on FB that has it so there are no characters unless I make them which is time consuming.

You're probably right. Generally speaking, I don't find "straight-line" humor to be funny. I prefer a punchline that catches me off guard. As for the attention whoring aspect, maybe that's just a product of my contacts on Facebook, as you suggested.

Now Candy Crush... that DID piss me off 😉
 
I don't mind the idea of it in theory.

but after a few friends of mine started making comics to document every thought that pops into their head, I had to block the app on facebook.

no use going on a rank when you can simply block it with 2 mouseclicks, though.
