I just got back from the bar and i stink of cigeratte smoke. I'm not bitching about the fact people are smoking there, cause it's a bar and that's what people have a tendancy to do. I just can't believe there are that many people doing it. It's stinks, it kills you, it's not like you're getting high off of it. I swear I'm not complaining about the fact that people do smoke, I just don't understand why...smokers care to respond?

I dunno. I find it disgusting. Nothing worse than walking through a cloud of smoke or having the smell attach to your clothes...YUCK!

I do neither :Q

(I'm 21 at UW-Madison, so this seems hard to believe by many people I've met)

I don't get it either. It's gross, expensive, and unhealthy up to the scenario of causing death. I think it takes an incredibly stupid person to start smoking for any reason today. All of the cons of smoking are very well known and drilled into our heads from day one.

What can you say... people are stupid.

I don't know how the idea of inhaling burned anything was ever considered a good idea.

Smoking in moderation is not going to kill you. Every now and then with a good drink it is quite enjoyable.

Tobacco ingredients, additives, and radioactivity..

Two of the 700 additives in cigarettes are sclareol, which causes seizures in

laboratory rats, and ethylfuroate, which was investigated in the 1930's as a possible

chemical warfare agent.

American Medical News, May 2, 1994

A two pack a day smoker takes 400 puffs a day and inhales 1000 milligrams (one

gram) of tar. This is 150,000 puffs and a quart of thick brown gooey carcinogenic tar

inhaled into the lungs each year.

But not an obsession with a woman you can never have?

As for the ACTUAL thread topic, a smoker friend with which I have spoken told me that it's the head rush that got him started. He also dislikes the habit, but dislikes the withdrawals even more.
