WTF I had no idea we landed on Venus back in '82.

I see you forgot to mention both sides used German scientists and tech snagged after WW2. :whiste:

True. And we got the best of it, truth is without Wernher von Braun we probably would not have made it to the moon anywhere near the 10 year benchmark JFK proposed. Funny thing is the real "godfather" of liquid fueled rockets was an American, Robert Goddard. largely discounted here as a "nutty professor" type Von Braun and his colleagues were keenly interested in his work and studied his ideas and concepts intensely..

There have only been 117 manned Soyuz flights. By the numbers that gives it a worse safety record than the space shuttle, although modern versions of Soyuz are much safer and more reliable than the original.

I was referring to the Soyuz launcher as well as the Soyuz capsule. The rockets is modular and can be fitted with different fairings for differing loads as well as a manned capsule up top. At 1700+ launches it is the world's most used launcher.

The only thing I miss about the Cold War was the space race between the Soviet Union and the U.S of A.

It's just an awful joke that makes absolutely no sense. Are there large populations of christians that deny lunar/space landings?

Yeah, the fuck who said that deserves to die. :|

Who brought the torches and pitchforks? Why hasn't that asshole been banned?

wow @ this thread for both religion and lack of science knowledge (and those that lack science knowledge normally googling and then posting as if they knew).

I can almost guarantee the wealthy of the world will find a way to populate Mars.

Not with most of us though.

Well, at least when we land a rover, we know how to make a lasting impression.

frisbee2.JPG

If you succeed, everybody will be like “Holy Crap!”
Step 1 Get a frisbee from the store or friend.

Step 2 Clean the Frisbee.

Step 3 Make sure your parents aren’t around

Step 4 Put something slippery on it, like butter or cream.

Step 5 Get really super pissed.

Step 6 Fold the Frisbee hard (this is crucial)

Step 7 Keep folded and insert Frisbee into mouth hard.

Step 8 Push hard until you can’t see it.

Step 9 Wait.

Step 10 Die.
