Ehh, its not surprising. I've had lots of electronics that have survived extended dips in water. The shuffle is a pretty simple piece of technology, so it would have a decent chance of surviving underwater.

Possible isolating screen on the board inside.

As others have mentioned; it's not sterile when it has been fermenting in a urinal.

If it starts out sterile, then it's no more dirty than if someone poured distilled water into the urinal. Yes it will pick up germs from the things it touches, but so will any other fluid.

Technically, that urine shouldn't be significantly more dirty than if it were clear water.

Technically or not; would you rather put your fist into a urinial full of sterile foreign piss or distilled water?

Hence the "technically". Certainly not something I would do for the fun of it, but I'd probably be OK if I had no choice.

Why didn't you flush then pull it out? Those holes in the bottom of the urinal are smaller than the device. Then you could have reached into clean water instead.

Urine can contain blood and semen, among other things, depending on the health condition of person it came from.

You're lucky that your shuffle works after being submerged in water. The BRAND NEW one I bought last year for my wife didn't even work when it came out of the box.

Apple wanted to send me a 'fixed' one and didn't refund my money until I called AMEX. Apple is an evil corporation that sells sub-par electronics made from cheap laborors in China.

One time at Target I saw a guy return a Shuffle and they gave him a new one at the spot. They open it up there to make sure it works, and sure enough, it doesn't. So, they break open another one and it works.

Of course, with the first two, I just think they needed to charge it first. I didn't say anything though. I wouldn't care if Apple had to take back half a dozen shuffles from the same guy. The thing costs them like $30 to make anyway.

For the record, I would have just walked away unless it was a brand new one. It's solid state flash memory and no LCD screen, I'm not too surprised it worked.

depends if water seeps in, sometimes you can get it out before damage happens. perhaps open the case to make sure its bone dry inside.

Ok so you dropped your Ipod in a toilet and it survived. And I sweat on mine and it died! Lol. That was yesterday also. When I'm running around outside, I sometimes just toss my Ipod in the waistband of my shorts. It's never been a problem before, but this time it killed it. I've got a new G3 nano on order but I don't even really like them as much as the old G2s :(.
