I have a fscking clue, Conjur. You, unfortunately, do not.
No, there were NO terrorists in Iraq before we invaded. The terrorists were in the places I mentioned earlier. Why didn't we invade those countries if this was about fighting terrorists? You have sucked up the propaganda and swallowed it whole, never once questioning the validity of the BS spewed from the Propagandist's mouth and his PNAC henchmen. We are in the Middle East because that's where the terrorists are.
Why couldn't the attacks have been planned for months for the announcment? Get things in place for each city with a chance to win and, when the announcement is made, move in. Quite possible.Originally posted by: MoobyTheGoldenCalf
There is no way this attack could have been put together in one day. 7 coordinated bombings across the city? I'd bet it was being planned for months. This has zero to do with the olympics.Originally posted by: RichPLS
I wonder if this attack is not related to the G-8 Summit, but rather to the awarding of the Olympics. This possibility would mean, of course, that had the Olympics gone to one of the other four cities, that bombs would have been detonated there.
And that means that there is the capability to attack almost any city within 24 hours notice. Just some of my paranoid thoughts emerging on this somber AM.

Oil bounces from losses after UK attacks
http://today.reuters.com/news/newsArtic..._RTRIDST_0_BUSINESS-MARKETS-OIL-DC.XMLLONDON (Reuters) - Oil prices bounced back from a heavy drop on Thursday in reaction to a coordinated series of terror attacks on central London's public transport system.
U.S. crude fell to a low of $57.20 as it became clear the blasts were deliberate, but recovered by 1235 GMT to $60.50 a barrel, down 78 cents on the day.
Brent crude in London fell to a low of $55.55 before recovering to $59.23 a barrel, down 61 cents on the day.

*nod* Wherever poverty and lawlessness is more the rule than the exception, where the uneducated can be rallied to hate others by a leader seeking to make a statement to the world, terrorism will need to be fought.Originally posted by: biostud

This is a World War, but not between the civilized world and Iraq. The enemy is a group of radical Islamic terrorists. They have no country.
I wonder when some people here will realize this?
Iraq is just one theater of the war much like Belguim was.
And yes, the terrorists' had a country. They were in Afganistan for one. And yes they move from country to country. Indonesia, Phillipians, Iraq, Iran..... the list goes on.

Yes, it will work. Extra security at places like that would minimize, at the least, any damage done as they wouldn't be able to board trains, planes, ships, etc.Originally posted by: Amused
Oh yeah. THAT'S gonna work! :roll:Originally posted by: conjur
What is clear, though, is that the fvcking BS rhetoric from this admin that "America and the world are safer" is now completely and utterly without basis. Attacks like this will continue no matter what countries are invaded and no matter what sanctions are imposed upon others. There will always be a fringe element seeking to cause death and destruction.
Better security at home at ports, chemical plants, transportation hubs, trucking industry, etc. is what we need, not more bombs and bullets.
Crime? Screw going after the criminals! Hide in your homes and barricade your doors!
Bees stinging you when you walk outside your door? Screw finding the hives and destroying them, better to wear a bee suit every time you leave your house!
Your answer to terrorism warms the hearts of terrorists all over the world, Conjur. You're exactly the kind of pussy they hope all westerners are.
Your plan is exactly what they want us to do: Run away with our tails between our legs and hide.
What's Blair going to do now? Bomb Iraq again? Invading Iraq has created MORE terrorism in the world.
Get a fvcking clue.
I have a fscking clue, Conjur. You, unfortunately, do not.
We are in the Middle East because that's where the terrorists are.
You don't fight the bees where they're stinging you, you go to the nest and kill them. You don't hide in your home from criminals, you hunt them down and jail them.
You don't hide in your country from terrorists, you go where they originate (or as close as you can get) and deal with them there. Iraq and Afghanistan were the only two ME countries we could legally invade and remove terrorist friendly regimes.
Doing so did stir up the bees, but MOST of the attacks have been THERE. It will be messy before it's better. But in the long run it beats hiding at home and becoming their bitches like you would have us do. Slowly but surely we will democratize the ME and negate religious fanaticism in the region. (Just as we did fascism in Europe) To fail to do so now would only make it far worse in the long run.

I don't see a point on why we have to bash bush at this moment...

I've heard that rumour on local London news, apparently at Canary Wharf but can't find any mention of it anywhere online
Sure would be a great lead for the investigation.Originally posted by: spherrod
