Aside from the fact that Nike sells clothing, and not photos of clothing, it appears you don't understand the difference between trademarks and copyrights.

Wikipedia:

So would youtube be removing people's videos if a crappy picture I drew and left in a hotel lobby ended up in the background of some families vaction video?

Wow, so full of fail.

If decoding dish network was so legal and allowed, why do canadian hardware dealers get busted all the time?

My uncle just pays for 4 dishes and gives us one of them. We send the payments out from here in America. He and his buddies use the other 3 with no issues that I can tell.

I am referring directly to dealers who sell devices to break or decrypt directv or dish signals.

What you are doing is most definitely gray area. I know many canadians get a US address so they can subscribe to directv. Same grey area.

Wait, wait, wait. The OP is canadian and complaining that his music is public domain and legal because the FCC says it is, so youtube sucks? The FCC is a united states agency you retard. There are tons of things that are illegal/legal in the US that are legal/illegal in canada.

Or does the OP think that Farm Credit Canada makes copying music from the radio legal for him.

Also, youtube and google can do whatever they want. They can ban all videos with sheep in them if they like. You have no rights to post whatever video you want on youtube, it is a privately owned entity.

LOL now you will truly look like a retard for not searching your info before you open your trap, Canada's telecommunications/electronics standards abide by FCC's guidelines by default, every product imported here is okay as long as it's FCC approved. Guess what? Canada even follows DOT rules from the U.S. for it's transportation standards.

Whose the retard now?

Yep, search on the net, ANYTHING broadcasted in the public airwaves becomes private domain, as long as you don't use the song/movie to replicate a million CD's and start selling them for profit. Do you think the government would have allowed cassette players to have the ability to record radio?

This is why I get free DishNetwork satellite TV here in Canada, the law states that whatever signal in bombarded to your backyard and invades your home space is free for you to use as you like, Dishnetwork's signal is invading my house but I don't mind :)

You will want to look at the little word mentioned: "rebroadcasting".

Care to back up the claim? You have yet to even provide a link to the FCC saying that materials wirelessly transmitted enter the public domain.

Even if the regulations are similar for compatability (Which they are), that doesn't mean they are EXACTLY the same. The FCC can't make the law "Canadians have to turn off wireless devices." and expect canada to follow it.

Often, Canada CSA keeps standards consistent with US standards, but they don't HAVE to.

Same thing with the DOT. I don't know if you noticed, but not everything is the same from canada to the US. For example, all distances are measured in kilometers instead of miles.. Not exactly following the DOT now are they.

Did you get a copyright on your crappy picture? :p

As soon as I drew it that means I have a copyright on it if I understand the basics, and I could sue for any monetary damages, though it would be incredibly hard to prove.

However, to make it simple lets say yes I did register my crappy picture and I wrote it tiny letters in the bottom corner © Gyhrg71 2010 All Rights Reserved. If you reproduce this crappy picture in anyway you agree to give me everything you own and name your firstborn son after me.

OP HAS to be a troll. No one can be this retarded... can they? :hmm:

It's kind of like a real-life suspense/thriller story. I mean, it's kind of scaring thinking one can just run into one of these loons; you think, you hope, they are acting like that just to be a dick, while another part realizes it's just as likely they really are like that for real.
You then realize, all the more frightfully, that they are guaranteed to have some kind of mental defect somewhere in that soup of gray and white neurons.

Scary, eh? Could make for an enjoyable yet cheap movie. Another one of those "awesomely bad" movies. :D

This is so sad, because it's so true.

It's unfortunate that, this time, the big corporations are winning. At least, more than they ever did with audio cassettes and video tapes..

Yep.

Thats what made me think of my stupid about the picture above. Would youtube take a copyright complaint from Joe Smoe about a crappy picture he drew and copyrighted as seriously as a complaint from the RIAA/MPAA? 2 people, 1 youtube account, and $35 dollars for copyright registration could find out.

I've seen it happen. I've seen some accounts get taken down by douches that do not agree with the content by claiming a copyright complaint on a video. For the most part, Youtube just takes it down when they get a complaint and it is up to the individual to defend against the complaints. I seem to recall that retsuprae got taken down by The Irate Gamer in such a fashion (but they got their account reinstated at a later date).
