Pixel, Just an FYI for you. Costco in Wayne, NJ is moving to where the old Fortunoff's used to be. Same lot as Olive Garden and JC Penny. The mall is also getting a Dicks Sporting Goods in the same place. Construction is well under way.
I never use checks to buy things. Just to pay bills. I can not stand debit cards, when a credit card is much better, gives more time to pay it and offers cash rewards back. Costco's biggest issue is the fact they only take AMEX ... the payment terms for AMEX are worse than a regular credit card and it has a yearly fee. No thanks.
Cool. Pretty much the same place. I wonder if they are moving to get more space or because of the flooding in their parking lot when it rains a ton.
I like debit for now because I just started a new career, have limited funds and want to only spend what I have. I only have cash on me when I go to a gas station because I hate the $1 pre-auth and it takes days to actually reflect the actual amount comoing out. Even though I have a nice cushion in my checking account I still like to know the exact balance at all times. The only other time for cash is when going to a bar.
However, my credit score was 540 in January, got it up to 655 now, and I have 1 more item on my credit report coming off this July - I had 2 debt collectors trying to collect the same debt, I paid one off, told the other that I had already paid that, they said they would investigate and call me within 5 days if they felt they had to collect. That was weeks ago.
I figure my credit will go to 700, then I'll get a credit card, start using that for rewards and to build my credit further. I heard capitol one is the best for rewards? What recs do y'all have for a first card with good terms and good rewards?
