Quote from UCF's Summer Term Orientation:

**students who choose the May 28-29 and June 5-6 session and are planning to live on campus for the Summer B session will not be able to move into their permanent residence hall until Sunday, June 9.

I think the lady's brain messed up things. First of all, I would have to apply for residence like a month ago. If I was moving there, after I go to registration; I would be moving in a couple days later. Furthermore, her son and her went to some "special" orientation. She said she went to orientation last week. THERE ARE NO DATES FOR ORIENTATION FOR LAST WEEK. The first orientation is May 28th to the 29th. Wow.

/highfive back

Probably quite a bit before me, but you're right.

The only things that change are the length of the skirts and the size of the shirts.

Party on. :D

Well, I was just at my girlfriend's house and her mom was telling me she was talking to one of her co-workers today. She told me that her son and her went to orientation and the person said it was MANDATORY to stay in the dorms for six weeks because they don't want the students to be "distracted." WAHT KIND OF GHEY SHIAT IS THAT. Can they really do this, is this legal? My Dad laughed at me when I asked him, is this just mis-information? WTF!! This is freaking me out, this really screws up my plans. Plus, it costs 900 dollars to stay in their POS dorms for six weeks. :Q

Plus, I live only like an hour from UCF, and I would only be taking one class, the easiest class I can find. This is only to get me in their school, and that's it. WHAT IS THIS. I NEVER HEARD OF THIS BEFORE. Some one please clarify this for me. :(

they can do it and it isn't as GAY as saying ghey!

Most univerisities are facist, to say the least. Better get used to it. As far as they're concerned, you have no rights.

I heard that some Uni's make you stay in the dorm for a year even if you live in the same town as the uuni :p

Cheers.

Of course they can. And 900 dollars for 6 weeks? Dude, I pay about 3 grand for a 10 week term.

Dorm living is cool ... for a little while at least :D
That said, it would suck if they forced you to do that for a part-time 6 week summer session. I'd look around and see if there are exceptions for part time students, or those living at home. They commonly do.

Shoulda cranked on the SAT a little more!

I am also going to go to UCF and I am 99% sure that you DO NOT have to live in the dorms at all. I didn't sign up for campus housing and I haven't heard of anything that says you have to. You were probably just misinformed.

Yes, this is completely legal. Schools can make dorm living mandatory for a period time. Sorry buddy.
