I am going to UCF for summer term because at the time, my SAT score was not "high" enough.

Anyways, I got accepted to summer term and I am going to Orientation the end of May.

Well, I was just at my girlfriend's house and her mom was telling me she was talking to one of her co-workers today. She told me that her son and her went to orientation and the person said it was MANDATORY to stay in the dorms for six weeks because they don't want the students to be "distracted." WAHT KIND OF GHEY SHIAT IS THAT. Can they really do this, is this legal? My Dad laughed at me when I asked him, is this just mis-information? WTF!! This is freaking me out, this really screws up my plans. Plus, it costs 900 dollars to stay in their POS dorms for six weeks. :Q

Plus, I live only like an hour from UCF, and I would only be taking one class, the easiest class I can find. This is only to get me in their school, and that's it. WHAT IS THIS. I NEVER HEARD OF THIS BEFORE. Some one please clarify this for me. :(

My school requires you to spend the whole first year in the dorms.

Many schools do.

Well, some schools do have a mandatory orietation that requires you to stay on campus for a day or two.

You're only taking one class? Then you'll be a part-time student? It may not apply to you then. You really should ask the school.

Um, besides the fact that most Univ's do require you to stay in dorms... whats so bad about it? You get to meet a bunch of interesting people most of the time.

No, there is no mandation for staying in the dorms. My friends and I just signed a lease for an apartment for August. A couple of my friends went to summer term and they commuted. And this was only last year. :|

you should call the school instead of asking here. They will know more than we will. Some schools do mandate it, others dont.

Geez, why don't you actually find out instead of asking here.

Why don't you call them, find out if its true and, if it is, explain to them your situation and ask if there is any way to get around it.

Many universities can be very accomodating.

At my school, freshmen are required to live on campus the first year. The only way to get around it that I know of is if you live with a relative. I don't see why they wouldn't let you stay at home or whatever and commute the hour back and forth.
