just looked and it went from $4800 to $6300 😕

i thought they were reducing limits not raising them these days

also this is the 2nd time this year they've raised it without me asking

Looks like BofA raised mine recently, as did Citibank. Not sure why they keep doing that since I normally never go above $200.

BoA has been steadily raising my credit limit without asking since I got the card. From 3k when I got it 2004 to 17k now.

Citi and American Express haven't touched my credit limits. I started at Citibank @ 18 (I'm 20 now) with a $2000 limit on a student card, up to $5500 now on a normal card. And Amex gave me $2000 to start and now it's up to $3000. Never had it automatically raised, only through requesting credit increases online.

derrr, thats why. every time i pay mine to zero (like 2 or 3 times a year) MC raises my limit too.

Citi canceled a credit card I have had with them for 14 years yesterday due to lack of activity. I rotate out my cards every 6 months and this one hadn't been used in about 5 months.

I called them and begged them not to close the account but they wouldn't listen.

This is going to hurt my credit score... 14 year old card with a $27k credit line being closed. So much for customer loyalty.

Wow, I just checked my BoA credit card that I haven't used in over a year and they have upped the limit to 21k... When I first got it from mbna in college the limit was only 4k.

Same. It jumped to 10k real fast, now it's at around 15k... I tend to make a lot of purchases with my Amex but I'm still shocked how fast it went up...

don't worry, when the bailout bill is passed by congress tomorrow, everything will be ok

wait for it...

wait for it....

That's pretty messed up... 😕

Guess I'd better use my CC from time to time, even if it's only for buying lunch.

BTW... would the cancel the card only for complete inactivity, or are they looking that you purchase a certain amount with t he card every few months?

Oh my, Discover raised my limit to OVER 9000!!!

No seriously tho, if they raised your limits, and you don't use it, doesn't that raise your available credit and credit scores?

How could it hurt?

Guys, it is obvious that if your credit limit goes up, you should take advantage of it and spend up to the max. Don't worry about carrying a balance from month to month, it's ok.
