wtf? Arizona does NOT observed Daylight Saving?

Just a note to my northern brethren:

Arizona is hot in the Summer. DST would shift folks' schedules so they could be out enjoying the 115 degree heat instead of being stuck in an air conditioned office. For Arizona, DST would likely cost more in energy than standard time as folks cracked up the A/C an hour earlier and an hour hotter each day.

No, it really doesn't. All that stuff about "energy savings" is a nice hollow victory that people tend to point at, but it's such a miniscule portion of our daily usage it might as well be nothing at all.

Okay, I lied. Arizona refuses to adopt DST because, secretly, we want to be more like California so we adopt your time zone for several months each year.

DST does suck... I don't like setting all the clocks, yeah I have a few that auto set tho, wish the cars all auto set... no..........

Gaining an hour isn't bad but losing an hour in the fall sucks!!! Takes a good week to adjust to it... at least for me...

For all your DST lovers... I'll be burning a bulb 24/7 to make up the additional savings....

Ever watch the West Wing? There was an episode about that, but it was a missed plane in Indiana when Indiana had three separate areas with different combinations of time zone (eastern/central) and DST (DST/no DST).

Is having to re-set all of the clocks really that big of a deal? How long does that take really? A couple of minutes? Seems like a trivial complaint to me. Hell, I don't even bother to reset my car's - I just remember that its an hour off

Actually - it is since the Hour and Min button don't work on my dash. When my battery died last winter I had to take the cover off around my radio, which is no easy feat on a 98 torus. Took me about 1 hour to reset the time. I could probably do it faster this time around since I know how to take the dash apart though (But still not something I want to do outside in the snow)

Agreed, I enjoy having the extra hour of sunlight in the evenings and don't appreciate having that hour essentially stolen from me in the fall.

This is actually my first time living outside of Arizona (I'm in Cali now) and I hate this idea of changing all of your clocks twice a year. What's the point?

Some people are saying that it's not any work to do it, so why don't we just have daylight savings time every other day? How about on Tuesdays we go forward 2 hours, on Wednesdays go back an hour from Tuesday, etc... Yeah, I know the original point was essentially to save candlewax (ie electricity today), but there was a study recently the added the numbers up and found that it has actually been costing us money to implement DST.

AZ gets away with it with the entirely reasonable argument that DST jacks their AC bills. When its 110 out, you don't want the sunset to be at 10pm.

If my house is hot inside whether it's 10pm or 9pm doesn't(or shouldn't) make a difference in whether I turn on the AC.

This isn't to say that I'm in support (or against) DST.
I just don't understand the idea that DST saves (or wastes) energy, leads to more(or less) playtime, gives you more(or less) time to do things in daylight, etc...
