WTF... a CD that I have won't play in my PC... fix?

File structure:
cd-assets (folder)
autorun.inf
LosLonelyBoys-ECD
LosLonelyBoys-ECD.exe

cd-assets folder:
.DS_Store
video.swf

Grr... pop it in and all it does is load the video.swf where one song and it's video is played. In a DVD player hooked to my tv, it plays like a CD should. Itunes recognizes the CD and shows the proper play list and lets me play them. Winamp doesn't find ANYTHING on the disk. EAC doesn't find anything on the disk either. 😕 I'm trying to rip to wave with EAC. When that finishes, I'll rip to mp4 with nero, but that ain't gonna happen unless EAC sees something on the CD. 🙁

Help?

I had a CD before that refused to be played in a CD ROM, it was a disc that was said to be "rip proof" and part of the copy protection was to make the disc unreadable in PC CDROM drives *shrug*

I heard about a marker trick. Anyone link me to the guide and I will test it out on my gorrilaz cd that does the same thing.

Grr.... one of my favorite bands *evar* and I have to look for the CD any time I wanna listen to one of their songs? Bullsh|t. Stupid companies... Anyway, LLB is one of the VERY few CDs where I really really like every song on the disk. 😀 If anybody's got a fix for this or knows what direction to point, I'd be greatful, thanks.

if itunes sees the cd and plays..

rip it into wave with itunes.. and then EAC.

EAC won't be necessary if itunes can rip to wav... That's what EAC does. Encoding to mp4 comes with Nero. 😀

There are two sessions (two tracks) on the disc (one for data one for audio). As far as I know, when the disc is mastered, one can be set as the primary and the secondary, like a data/music disc in one disc. The key is to get the computer to see only the audio session. Since the audio track is recorded first so standard CD players ignore the data, then there must be a way for the computer to ignore the data track and see only the audio track.

I cant find it on any list of Copy-Protected Discs. Try holding the SHIFT key when putting it in your drive, which will disable the autorun.

i remember this happened with the free fast&furious music CD that I got. Marker trick didn't work either

Umm...that is NOT the best way to go about that. I've bought several of the CDs which use this copy protection sceme and have had to learn how to defeat it painlessly. PM me.

Why PM you? Is it something that is in the gray area? Is it something illegal? Do you think that PMs are any more secure than making yourself a huge thread in OT saying BAN ME!?

😛 Just come out and say it.
