WTF. 60 days in jail for not cutting your grass?

You disappoint me, I thought this was going to be about Israelis giving out 60-day sentences to Palestinians who do not add inactive ingredients to marijuana in order to increase sale weight prior to distribution.

I have no problem with this.
Its not like some anal HOA with a ruler, this is people letting their weeds get 6feet tall. The story says they can grow their grass up to 8inchs. Most HOAs would skin you alive for a 1/3 of that.

Hire somebody to do their grass for them. Just add the cost to their taxes. If they don't pay, eventualy, they get evicted and the house sold for taxes.

That's the theory anyway.

If this was over the normal HOA "grass wars," I'd just say "fuck it,' and take the lawn out...and put in a rockscape. IIRC, in Kahleeforneeya, they can't stop that because of water restrictions...it's "water friendly," and a HOA can't stop it.

I've had a couple of neighbors do that in the past year...since we went to metered water usage billing. (no HOA thankfully) At first, I didn't like the look, but...it's "grown on me" somewhat...especially when I get my monthly water bill...

Ok yes it sucks but priorities people priorities. I'm sure they have worse problems than grass not being cut.

They can't stop it, but they can control it.

If someone can't afford the standard upkeep of a property, they have no business buying it.

in SLC I got a city ordinance violation for having my weeds too tall. They had to be kept under 6 inches. If I didn't get it under control they were going to fine me something like $300 or 6 days in jail or some shit.

I wish they did that around here. The idiots two houses down let their yard get way out of control -- they didn't cut the grass for 2+ months and left the lawnmower in the driveway for the same length of time. Da fuck?

I sent this pic to the HOA (this pic was sent on August 29, they didn't actually cut it until this past Monday, so it was about 6" higher):

Our HOA is gutless on some things.

That's outrageous! Oh wait, it's just the neighbor's grass. Unless you're in fire season, who cares?

Because it looks like shit? And who the hell leaves a lawnmower in the driveway for two flippin' months?

Now I can understand the lawn going bare in spots (as seen with my neighbor's yard) -- it's been hot as hell and a lot of lawns have suffered. But the other house has nothing but weeds and it looked like crap.

I don't know about you, but how can you come home to a house like that everyday and not cut that shit?

In the end, I think the HOA ended up cutting it and fining them.

At least your neighbors don't have moldy mattresses leaning against their house ...

I'll admit I'm a bit biased here. A few years ago we moved into a rental. The yard was bare and covered in dog shit. We cleaned it up, turned the soil, planted a wildflower garden, fertilized it, watered it, and got it to grow. Just as the flowers were coming into bloom a couple fucktards hired by the city mowed down our garden because "it was weeds". Dog shit = good, native wildflowers = bad. People who ain't got anything better to do than bitch about their neighbor's yards can suck my johnson.

If you don't want to cut your grass, don't live in a neighborhood with an HOA :D

I'm usually pretty anti-HOA for the stupid shit they pull -- you know, stuff like not being able to have a pickup truck in the driveway, or leaving your trash can out front an extra day, or not allowing you change your oil in the driveway.

But simple shit like cutting your grass? That's common damn sense!

So much easier to just live your life and ignore your neighbors lawn.

fucked up, the guy takes the time to cover his car but can't get around to cutting the grass.

We had renters down the street that had a lawnmower sitting in their driveway too...never cut their grass. One weekend they decided to mix concrete and repave their blacktop driveway and part of their lawn....it was terrible.

People cry "oh it's my home" but the fact is it's the community's neighborhood. One person letting their house go, fucking it up, brings everyone else's down.
