fucked up, the guy takes the time to cover his car but can't get around to cutting the grass.

We had renters down the street that had a lawnmower sitting in their driveway too...never cut their grass. One weekend they decided to mix concrete and repave their blacktop driveway and part of their lawn....it was terrible.

People cry "oh it's my home" but the fact is it's the community's neighborhood. One person letting their house go, fucking it up, brings everyone else's down.

Exactly. You have every other house in our cul-de-sac with maintained lawns, and then this one sore thumb sticking out.

As I said, I'm typically anti-HOA, but cutting your damn lawn is such a basic thing -- you shouldn't need to be told to do so. My yard (the part I have to actually cut) is about four times the size of theirs and it takes me about an hour to push it.

It should take no longer than 10-15 mins (if that) to cut that front lawn (their back is fenced in and mostly dirt because they have big dogs back there).

And the shitty thing is, the woman that lives next door to us (adjacent to the crappy yard) usually has a flawless lawn. She's one of the few that had mostly green grass throughout the whole summer (except for a few bare spots out front where the sprinklers don't cover) because she has an underground irrigation system. But the weeds and crabgrass from the shitty yard have started to creep over into her yard and spread (crabgrass, clover-looking stuff, and some other weeds I can't identify). She has Kentucky Bluegrass IIRC.

I wish they did that around here. The idiots two houses down let their yard get way out of control -- they didn't cut the grass for 2+ months and left the lawnmower in the driveway for the same length of time. Da fuck?

I sent this pic to the HOA (this pic was sent on August 29, they didn't actually cut it until this past Monday, so it was about 6" higher):

Our HOA is gutless on some things.

You complain about his high grass but your lawn looks like shit. He should take a pic of your lawn and send it to the HOA cus it's unkempt as well.

That's not my lawn as I stated above. The house is two doors down from me.

My lawn is currently covered in wheat straw as I am reseeding.

Thanks for playing though! NEXT!

Well either way you're a low life for taking pics of someone's lawn and crying about it like a baby. If I had neighbors like you I'd make sure I had my 1911 out.

dude first you attack his grass, he replies it's not his and now this?

You just trolling to troll or are you getting defensive because you have a yard like these in question?

Hate to break it to you, but adult buy houses so they hopefully retain their value. When the children of the neighborhood let everything go (typical for renters) then they begin to lose value in their homes not only financially, but in their own ability to enjoy the neighborhood they bought into.

If people want to live their own way they need to pick a non-HOA...if they can't find one close to their jobs they need to make the commute then.

You done yet?

If you don't want to cut you grass, get your own plot of land in seclusion instead of living in a neighborhood with an HOA. Simple as that.

You don't live in a bubble when you're in a community.

You guys are the types of neighbors that everyone hates. Thinks they are the police of the neighborhood and in everyone's business.

I've been living in this neighborhood for about a year and a half. This is the first time I've contacted the HOA regarding something like this.

There are 5 houses in our cul-de-sac and that's the only one where the people don't give a shit about cutting the grass. One of the five houses is for sale; what do you think people are gonna do when they drive by and see that one of their "future" neighbors doesn't care about cutting their grass... err, I mean weeds?

As I said, I'm not an HOA fan, but cutting your grass is a pretty simple thing to do. Especially when you actually HAVE a lawnmower, and it's sitting right there in your driveway to add insult to injury.

The board member that replied back to me stated that they had been sending letters to them for the past month and a half to cut their grass, but they still wouldn't cut it. It was not until this past week that someone actually cut it; and I'm assuming that it was the HOA that did it because the yard was mowed to perfection, all the edging was done, and all of the grass clipping were bagged up (definitely not like the homeowners ;) )

Again, I don't think I'm being unreasonable here.

Looks a lot better than those ugly brown patches in the front part of that picture.

LOL the other 2 lawns I can see in the pic look worse than the uncut one. So basically 60 days in jails would mean the grass goes uncut another 60 days? Gotta love people who hate long grass when every other house has half dead brown looking shit for grass.

Uncut GREEN grass > brown turn looking grass.

Uncut GREEN grass > brown turn looking grass.
It's not really grass, it's about 80% weeds (the uncut yard).

Our neighborhood (about 200 houses or so) has about 50 percent fescue lawns, and 50 percent centipede lawns.

In central NC, the temperatures for the past 3 months have been in the mid to high 90s which has killed off a lot of lawns (there have been record highs in NC this summer). With the fescue, those that still have lawns, or whatever is left of their lawns still cut their grass as they should.

With our high temps, unless you were hitting the lawn with massive amounts of water all summer long, you're gonna have brown spots. It also doesn't help that we didn't until yesterday get our first batch of rain here in little over a month -- we've been experiencing drought conditions.

Those with centipede grass are in good shape because it's a warm season grass, and our unusually high summer temperatures haven't really affected them (and they're drought resistant).

It's funny, because during the spring/summer around here the centipede lawns are looking their best, but they turn brown as hell in fall/winter. On the other hand, fescue lawns are nice and green for fall/winter/spring/early summer, then get roasted later in the summer.

The two lawns in the picture (that are brown/have brown spots) are fescue lawns, and both have already had their fall aeration/reseeding, so they'll be greening up within the next couple of weeks.

Cliffs:

- Within neighborhood, brown spots/brown lawns are common due to our summer heat wave
- Most homes with brown spots have likely already had their fall aeration/fertilizing/seeding/overseeding done
- Uncut grass despite all of this is VERY rare in the neighborhood

LOL jail for not cutting your lawn? And people are apologetic to this? Have fun living under the Gulag guys.

Here's the deal so you aboringines understand...

In America we have the best of everything so you have everyone wanting to live here. This causes problems for finding spots to put everyone as everyone wants the best of that land.

What came to be is the invention of condos and other shared wall/attached living arrangements and in a way to get you own piece of property, yet stil be not as attached; the Planned Urban Development (PUD) and Home Owner's Association (HOA).

With a PUD, you are told exactly how your property is going to fit in with those around you. As a home buyer, one should go to the zoning maps and carefully review where the sites for that next mega-shopping center and worship location for men who love sheep will be built. If you don't then don't cry about it when they go up....yet people do.

With the HOA, you are agreeing to own a home inside a community where certain rules are followed down to the color you can paint your house and sometimes exactly what types of vehicles you can own. This is all presented to you UP FRONT, it's fucking included as things you must sign with your financing even just so the bank knows you know the rules.

What happens though is say Joe Shitbird really wants his own 5 acre spread with a 50' camper he built himself out of a semi-truck that rolled over and burned, two mudders and a dozen hound dogs...poor Joe comes up short because he is a nobody in life. Fucker makes a shitty $30k a year, puts about $15k on credit and acts like he is owed the world.

Poor Joe can't afford the $500k to buy that 5 acre spread though, he can't afford the $250k for half that. However, he can afford this $100k house that comes with just enough land to roll his 50' trailer on and begin working out the body issues. With a big enough fence and some razor wire on top he should be able to keep most of his dogs in at night. There is a nice park that he is sure he can tear the fuck out of on the weekends on his quads.

Oh shit, snap...lookeehere...it says I am agreeing not to park any types of trailers or campers on my property, I am limited to two dogs which cannot be left outdoors, my fence is limited to 6' in height and of only approved designs, and off road vehicles need to be trailered in and out of the community and stored in a garage which needs to remain closed outside immediate need.

I am just gonna pretend I missed that and even then "I AM SO IMPORTANT" rules don't apply to me.

This thread makes me laugh. Really people going to jail for not cutting the grass and the biggest troll Alkemyst is defending this lol. I can tell he is the big asshole of the neighborhood and I bet he calls the cops every chance he gets on his neighbors because it makes him feel good. I know these types of peopel always looking for something to bitch about no matter how good your house looks they will always find a problem. These type of people need a bat upside the head.

Maybe they were hoping someone with OCD would use the mower to cut the lawn.

Dude, what you are saying is trolling...what I had stated was my thought out opinion on this matter.

You clearly are a meant to rent'er or a teenager. Seriously, bat upside the head...you live in fairy tale land.

As far as neighborhood, I am pretty well-respected in mine. I actually get off my ass and cut down some vacanted home lawns during the weekend and keep my own yard perfectly manicured. I have a pretty high-maintenance yard.

Yes I have called the police, but the way it plays out is I will go over and knock on your fucking door until you answer (maybe with your badass bat)...I will let you know that I don't appreciate the pigsty your property has become and will ask when do you plan on fixing that.

Depending on your response and your reaction, I will then call zoning and/or the police. That's my right, and the right thing to do. I go over there and slap you around like a little bitch, I just get arrested and you try to sue my homeowners.

Go play some GTA and be the man you cannot be in real life.

This x1000. Glad I live in a climate that's kind to grass to brown grass is an unusual sight.

those brown patches are that way b/c the douchenozzle that owns that lawn over-fertilized.

Those are nitrogen burns. And they kill little babies.
