WSJ: Sprint to bet the company on iPhone5

So what happened to this? Is there going to be a separate Sprint event later? Or...

WSJ is basically Apple's official leak site.

I, for one, hope this turns out to be false. My data connection sucks badly enough on Sprint. I don't need it going from 300kbps down to < 100kb on 3G.

If Sprint is unable to sell the "committed" contracted amount, they will just force Apple to the table and renegotiate or breach the contract out right. The 30.5 million number just means the commitment to sell at ass rape rates as long as the sales meets to the contract.
And if they breach the contract, won't Apple will sue them for it?

they're getting the 4s like everyone else
So that means Sprint's version is 3G and not WiMax?
Sprint's 3G network sucks ass.

A lot of new iPhone users rushing to come to Sprint because of unlimited data will surely be disappointed.

Ha ha, maybe this is Sprint brilliance. Sucker in the iPhans, take their money, leave the WiMax network unclogged for pre-existing Android users, collect massive ETFs as angry iPhans leave. 😉

It's pretty meaningless to speculate without knowing the contract outright. But pretty much the contract is most likely worded so that Sprint will commit to 30.5 million units at ass-rape pricing. There's no point in Apple suing Sprint if the sales just don't materialize.
