I'm not at all obsessed with grammatical perfection, but I prefer that people learn to write, and write in complete and understandable sentences. There is a lot of daylight between "incomprehensible gobbledygook" and "grammatical perfection."

Obsessing over perfect grammar is as bad as not caring about grammar at all. The two extremes are annoying to most people.

Yup. As I said, perfection can't always be achieved but a low error margin is desirable. And anyway, I'm a bit obsessed only when it comes to my grammar. Not when it comes to finding out flaws in other people's writing. Not unless what they write is annoying or difficult to comprehend.

not obsessed, as evident by the lack of capitalization in my posts (though that stems from a personal sense of aesthetics). i do think people should at least try to write in a comprehensible way. if a non-native speaker like me can, so can you. haven't seen too many headache-inducing badly written posts on these forums though.

I tend to make spelling or grammar edits when i see them, but find spelling and grammar nazis intolerable toothless losers.

Obsessed isn't the word I would use to describe myself but it is fairly important to me, more-so in a work setting. Even here on some petty Internet forum I think it's wise to be as grammatically precise as possible within reason.

As a part-time programmer, I appreciate the need for both precision and accuracy in language.

People already get into enough trouble due to simple miscommunication. Let's muddy it up even more, and get really sloppy about how we convey information.

I often see it written that forming bonds and connections with other people is one of the most meaningful aspects of living. How do you accomplish that but through the exchange of information, verbal or otherwise? It therefore seems to me that it should be of great importance that you do what you can to ensure that your thoughts and your intentions will be expressed such that they will be interpreted correctly by others.

I don't care about super-nitpicky stuff. Especially on the internet. Because sentence fragments.

And I type more like I'm speaking. With, you know...pauses, and commas, and stuff. For effect.

But I know how things should be used; even semicolons.

Facebook is one place where people piss me off on typing. Damn near every one of my friends has a god damn smartphone and they can't type for shit on it. My biggest pet peeve is the word too. Most people don't know how to use it.

I can't stand shity typing and just skip right past it. That "brilliant" post, well I just read the first sentence and gave up. I'm not the smartest bastard in the woods, but dammit fucking type with some understanding you pathetic dick head. LOL
