So far the vast majority of features they seem to be pushing are cloud and service related. They want you always connected and always spending money with them.

I thought it was a complete waste of time nothing new at all. Google won the day with the nexus 4. I love the 920 but not sure it is worth that much more than a nexus 4 16gig. Getting them for prepaid sick of the big boys over priced plans. I could save 500 dollars using nexus over the 920 for 2 phones. Since strait talk does not do LTE the nexus 4 seems perfect.

I am still hyped for WP8 but was very disappointed in todays presentation. Maybe we will get a cheaper W8 device that is like the nexus 4.

Nexus 4 has a quad core S4 snapdragon pro... awesome processor. I don't think WP8 devices will match it until next time (a year from now maybe).

I feel like the whole theme of Windows Phone 8 (and maybe 7/7.5 too) is just colors. Bright colors. Colored tiles, colored phones, color color color! It's not just car colors, it HAS to be bright fluorescent colors.

Do you need crayon and a piece of paper?
I remember studying about like minded people grouping themselves together.

People like having some level of uniqueness. And phones are to some degree an accessory to many people. The choice of colors are no different than Apple have half a dozen color choices for iPods. And when it comes to the tiles it's just another level of customization you can do. You can change colors to fit your mood or personality.

It's a nice change in a market that was otherwise known for a sea of black and white.

I shall be quickly purchasing an HTC 8X so that I can shed myself of the AT&T shackles (though I did love my Lumia 900)

I rather like what they're doing with WP8. Hopefully it will lite a fire under Google to pressure the carriers a bit to get them to push updates out more timely. Any competition is good and WIndoes Phone as an OS ran quite good IMO. I hope other manufacturers jump on board and start pushing the specs a bit higher with quad core and MicroSD card slots. Every phone manufacturer can learn from Nokia when it comes to making a camera for a phone. The Lumia 920 seems to be superb in that regard.

I really liked what they showed today. I'm not seeing any reason to move away from the WP ecosystem for me personally. I'm heavily invested in Microsoft products (W8, Office, Xbox, SkyDrive and WP7.5) and I like having all of those connected with one account. Looking forward to comparing phones and getting an upgrade to my Focus S in the next couple of weeks.

Did they announce a street date for the phones?

Rumors are November 11 for AT&T devices and the 12th for Verizon's with T-Mobile coming shortly thereafter.

But MS is leaving it to the carriers to make those official announcements.

T-mobile has already announced their Windows Phones will be available Nov. 14, the HTC 8X and Lumia 810.

Here's hoping the full retail prices aren't ridiculous. I'm on tmobile's $30 plan and don't plan on changing that anytime soon.

Me too.
You have to accept paying full price for phones from time to time if you are gonna go pre-paid.

And it will be expensive. Ridiculous is a relative term. What do you wanna pay? 400? Thats not happening. Plan on closer to 600.

I think it's also meant as advertising, getting people to ask "Hey, what phone is that?" And then seeing the WP8 and maybe getting a few more sales out there or at least more brand recognition.

To be fair, the brand new Nexus 4 is only $350. :p

Is there any chance the announced Samsung Ativ Odyssey for Verizon will just be the Ativ S except with a different name? I really like the look of the Ativ S.
