WP7 hits 25k apps(supposedly), growing very nicely

I look forward to a review of Office 365 from someone other than Paul Thurrott.

Hmmm. He's the only guy I bother to read for a qualified opinion - except on Linux where he's too quick to be dismissive (justifiably so but nevertheless).

I would rather read someone that writes better, and isn't as biased. If a product is good, then even people that ordinarily wouldn't look at Microsoft products will still give it a good review (if that makes any sense, I just woke up, my brain isn't firing on all cylinders yet I think). Conversely, Paul Thurott seems to work the opposite way, if the product is Microsoft then it is getting a good review, one that takes needless jabs at the competition without the respect of a namedrop at the very least.

Office 365 integration is a part of Mango, it isn't an app. I imagine the app count is higher by now...I've had an update for one of my apps pending certification since Monday, so clearly there is a backlog!

I know it seems like he loves everything Microsoft, but listen to the podcast sometime. He's very cynical when it comes to the company about certain topics. He's a Microsoft guy, but he is not even close to the fandom level that many sites give Apple or Google. He even just bought a Macbook Air to run Win7 on and has bought both of the iPads.

I trust his reviews and he convinced me to get a Zune HD/Windows Home Server/and a WP7 phone and I've been more than happy with those products. If Office 365 sucked, his cynical nature would take over and trash it.

Yeah the guys at InfoSyncWorld arent thrilled with WP7 but they manage to say nice things about it.

I just cannot stand his writing style and rhetoric, and if I had my druthers would prefer to read reviews somewhere else. I poke my head in there every week or so since he tends to have a better line on upcoming or lesser talked about Microsoft products, but I don't hang around too long.

I was happy to see him going after people for the NoDo thing, that was just ridiculous, and he actually has said nice things about Google and Apple, particularly in the mobile space.

Some of the best WinMoPho reviews I have read were written by Mac/iOS users. There are a lot of really bright design minded people out there that love WinMoPho and Metro

Nevertheless, he's more real-world objective on things he has good experience with than almost any Apple-obsessive 'digerati' I'd care to name, including some (relatively mild cases) jokers at Anandtech.

True, he does tend to speak his mind regarding parties he thinks are full of it instead of weaseling out of it. I like that though.

Not to take this thread even further off topic, but there are plenty of people that are objective and that call out those that are full of it and they do so without sounding like a smarmy douche like Paul Thurrott. Like I said, I just don't like his writing style and his kind of rhetoric.

It's improved in Mango. Just tried that search, Kindle is #1, imdb is #3, Amazon app is #4.


Part of the problem is that it goes not only by relevance but also download count....so if a non-related app sticks Amazon in its keywords, and gets a lot of downloads, it will show up.
