Have you ever met a girl? An insane lady came into her house and stole a dog that she loved while there was nothing she could do. Thats like a girls worst nightmare.

Yeah...if she's 12.

EDIT: Just noticed you said you were 17; a dog probably ranks a little high on one's relationship scale at that age. Even so, it is difficult to understand why you and your gf are so distraught over a dog. Sure, anybody would feel bad, but you made it sound like the most inhuman and cruel crime had been committed!

As I have already stated, its more about the lady and not about the dog. We are not necesarily trying to get the dog back, we just want this lady locked up. I guess its just one of those things that cannot come across completely through writing. This lady deserves to be in some sort of a mental institute. To add some joke to this thread heres some questions my girlfriend once asked her -
One day she came over and my girlfriend asked,
"What are you doing on Christmas?"
She replied by saying, "Oh, just staying home with my dogs."
Later that week my girlfriend asked her what she was doing for new years...she then went on with the same, "Oh, just staying home with my dogs."
Her family must have disowned her, and I can see why nobody wants to be her friend.
Hell, I never knew there were crazy dog ladies...I wouldve left that up to the cat ladies.

Get a bigger shock collar, strap it on the crazy lady and keep hitting the button until she stops kicking.

What is wrong with people these days?!?

Sounds good to me. Can we throw in an acrylic cage with 4 small air holes at the top? (or just enough to keep her alive so I can shock her more)

Crazy lady, sheesh.

Dude, it's really not worth pursuing legally. Go get another dog - you'll fall just in love with it, I promise.

This is not just over the dog. Its the fact that this lady is insane and deserves to be punished. We all can't morally sit there while she could very well possibly to this same thing to other people. That would be like letting a crime go on.

There are a lot of crazy people out there. If you want to invest your time and money going after her, good for you. It's going to be much less heartache and headache for you if you let it go though.

Just a question, not meaning to be offensive. How old are you?

We arent going to sue her or anything..we are going to let the police handle it and hopefully get our dog back. I am 17.

Hmmm... If the police can get our dog back and get a restraining order, I guess I'd let it go. But I think you have very good grounds for a real suit. You've done nothing wrong, and even complied with her nutty wishes.

She's gone amazingly out of her way to torture your family. If the police can't get it done, try the courts. It's what Wapner would want! :)

We didnt let her in the house. She let herself in. The cops were in front of her when we answered the door. The cops walked in and she followed and went on to take the dog.

Bullshit dude, you're gf is 100% accountable here (and the mother for the rest I suppose by running her mouth). Just because the lady showed up at the house with a couple of cops DOES NOT MEAN SHE HAD THE RIGHT TO ENTER THE HOUSE.

Hell, the cops didn't have the right either. Your gf essentially GAVE THEM PERMISSION and the crazy lady followed in and took advantage of the oppritunity.

IF, I had let the cops and lady in my house like that I would have immediately picked up the dog and kept him in my possesion at all times. Unless the cops had an order to take the dog then they could kiss my ass.

It's not the cops job either to determine if there's a contract or not. If they felt there wasn't I would have told them that the dog would remain in my care until such time as a judge could decide this CIVIL matter.

Of course I would never have let them in in the first place. Your gf needed to show a little back bone there and stand up for herself. This "I'm waiting on my mommy to defend me, and if anything bad happens I'm not at fault because she wasn't here to defend me." syndrome would grow a little old with me if I were in your shoes OP.

NEVER let a cop into your house without a warrant.

Warrant was unnecessary...they werent searching anything.

Get a clue. Without a warrant a cop cannot enter your home without your permission. You are a good deal to blame in this situation.

There are animal "rescue" operations up here that do similar crap. They adopt a desirable pets from the shelter, then charge you an insane fee for the care and feeding of the animal, even if they have had it less than twenty-four hours. Then they make you sign your life away to keep the animal.

Is that pot I smell? Why yes it is! Time for you juveniles to get some quality time with Bubba! Oh and I guess we'll pick up the dog too.

NEVER allow a cop in your house without a warrant.

Most "legit" animal recue operations (actual places, not individuals) are all non profit and use those fees to barely keep their heads above water to do what they do.

The ones up here are split about 50/50 from what I have seen. This "individual" has their own little "non-profit" organization.

More nightmare stories about "pet rescue" operations.

LINK 1

LINK 2

Our local animal shelter is now a "no kill" shelter, so there is no legitimate reason for these "rescue" organizations in our area anymore.

anyways, I would say that cashing the check is binding. but I'm not an attorney.

It is. That adoption agency needs to get acquainted with contract law before they started spouting out nonsense like that.

What are you talking about. A cop cannot enter your house without your expressed acknowledgement or a warrant. And even if the cops did, the lady absolutely has no right into your house....ever!

I would go on a tirade about how no police officer isn't allowed into your house unless he/she has permission or a warrant, but many other people have already done that.
