you have to understand that SPCR is not out to get the highest performance. They want the most silent machine while still maintaining it to be within usable temperatures. Plus they don't overclock. With the voltage I'm running, I need all the airflow I can get while still trying to be silent at the same time. :)

Have you tried taking the top exhaust fan off and putting it in the front as intake? Then, seal off the top exhaust hole. It should create a nice wind-tunnel effect that will help a lot. Since you're still experimenting, I thought I'd suggest it. :)

I did it once, but didn't test it... but I think I will try it to see what the outcome is.

They might not have been in an OC'ed system but I know they tested in a P4 with a hot enviroment. Top fan off still provided the best cooling/silent combo. Do you have a fan on the Ninja?

The Ninja is not installed yet... It will be here on Thursday.

I'm finding the top fan a bit too loud for my tastes, did it quiet down a bit when you flipped it that way so they don't compete.

I just tried your suggestion, and guess what. That was a "NO GO." temps increased all the way to 61C!! My comp locked up when it did, so I don't even know if it would have went higher. With the top blowhole blowing air in temps were steady ALL DAY running Prime95 between 54-55C.

*Right now I am guessing my Zalman must not be making good contact or something with the CPU, because when I had the MSI, the temps were much lower. But I don't feel like taking it off, and reapplying AS5 right now, because I am going to be replacing it on Thursday with the Ninja.*

horrible wiring job or not, its still not visible to anyone else but me. my old cheap case was a lot easier to clean up cuz the psu was on top

Dynamix - once you get the Ninja on, leave the top open and hook up a fan to the ninja pointing toward the exhaust. That will draw air over your memory and out the back of the case. Plus it should flow over the ASUS heatpipe vent as well.

Yes once I get the Ninja, I will be doing extensive testing again to see which setup gives the best temps like I have done in this post. I will be trying your recommendation, and I will also be trying to run the Ninja passively with the top blowhole, blowing cool air into the case, and onto the Ninja, and the rear fan as exhaust. I hope that works well, because it would be nice to have one less fan, even though if I need to add an extra fan to get better temps, I won't mind

Hey Dynamix3d-

Check out my Sig, we got almost the exact same setup!

The only diference is that ALL of my fans are already replaced with Nexus and they really are totally silent! I absolutely love this case, everything about it.

I tried flipping the top fan around like you and it worked pretty well, I was able to turn town the fan on my 7000b to about 1400 RPM (silent) without raising temps

I noticed you don't have any of the front USB/firewire/audio ports connected. I'm guessing its just to keep the case looking clean, cuz my front port wires make my mobo look a little cluttered, otherwise its almost perfect wiring (well, not as perfect as yours)

Keep us all informed on your experiments with the fans and your ninja! I like to experiment as well with fans anf such but lack the time to actaully do it.

Keep up the awesome work!

 to you!

For those of you who find the top fan too loud, I found a temporary but very helpful solution. Place something like a book or mousepad on top of the mesh grill on the blowhole. The air (AND NOISE) will be vented out the back, away from you.

Nice setup you have there. And yes it is similar to mine, so I know your's has to be running silent. But you are wrong about the USB. I do have USB connected I guess you just cannot see it in the picture. I don't have firewire or the audio ports connected though, because I have no use for them.

Really stupid question here...but when you change a fan from exhaust to intake, all you do is flip it around right?

You don't need to rewire anything do you?

haha, is that a No to rewiring or a No to flipping the fan around?

Also, what about the screws for the fan. If you flip the top exhaust fan around, can you still screw it in from the top of the case? I dont' want to have to screw the fan from the inside and have the screw heads pop out on the top.

Funny I mentioned a while ago in one of the P180 threads that making the top fan as intake lowered my cpu and case temps a fair amount...It seemed the the top and rear as exhaust did not work well.. Idoubt make the rear as intake would not work as well since more heat seems to escape to the rear...the top is a nice source of cooler air...

I agree the vga duct was a waste ..I bought a fan for in..I found that make the pull air out worked better temps were not better but noise was...dumped the vga duct

I have been trying to figure out if placing my HDD in lower chamber would help but I have not been able to find a good way t oget a fan to intake cool air

eheh u just flip the whole fan around. Isnt there wholes on both surface of the fans on the p180? I cant remember. Normally there would be on most fans tho.

Also air ducts, had one for my CPU on my old setup at one time, makes this annoying whirling sound, not worth it. Threw it out 5 seconds after installing it, good thing I didnt need to make holes into the case.
