i bought the orange box the week it came out through steam... and i haven't regretted it once yet. portal was probably the most original and inventive game i've played in years and TF2 is seriously the most fun i've had playing a MP fps since probably TFC.
no grenades might bother some old school TFC players... but honestly i don't even notice them gone.
my name on steam is the same as my name here.

I got the Orange Box and played Portal first but now I'm on TF2. Steam ID: WhiteFlame. Currently I'm just trying out the different classes. I find myself playing medic a lot since they seem to be lacking on most teams. But you get on a team and being a medic just means your the top target and your team isn't watching out for you. I was healing a heavy and got backstabbed 3 times in a row, after that I spawned as a soldier instead.
Still trying to figure out good places for sentries on most maps. Good way is to see which give you the most trouble.

I hope they'll have a free weekend for this. I keep hearing such great things about it, but it just doesn't sound that great to me without trying it. I know it could be awesome - I played Red Orchestra all through its free weekend and got it soon after. And then played it for like 2-3 months.

If this is any indication: http://kotaku.com/339728/germa...ass-to-team-fortress-2 then we may see a free weekend in the US at some point.

I tried to like the engineer. But, sentries are just fodder for the spies. So, you build your sentries and then waste your time firing blindly in the air around them or build and then rebuild them a few minutes later if you don't protect them. However, there is nothing quite like seeing an upgraded sentry turning the enemy to mincemeat in front of enemy forts on the 2Fort map.

Always protect your sentries instead of attacking the spies. Some spies are good and will kill you while you're protecting the sentry, but most aren't quick and if you protect your sentry it will kill them when they try to kill you.

And never ever put your sentry out in the open. Put it someplace where YOU can have your back to a wall, therefore the spy cant backstab kill you. And of course shoot everyone who comes near your sentry. Usually most spies are too dumb to change their disguise. And you can kill most before they even get to your sentry, or at minimum wound them badly enough that you can whack them with a wrench.
